Chronological but including non canon

Majority of the manga was done before the anime had started. I'd say around the nationals arc is when the anime had the first three seasons, movies, and first three OVA's out. Probably the best way to see an accurate timeline is to look on the official Wikipedia pages. They'll have release dates for everything.

There's also a timeline under the Articles tag on the nav bar but it mainly covers manga related events.
