Unified Community Platform changes

Hi, I'm pretty new to this wiki and I was just wondering what progress that was being made towards the move to the Unified Community Platform? For example, this forum is still using Special:Forum, but Forums are planned to be removed and replaced with Discussions. New wikis are already beginning to use the new system, and the migration of existing wikis has begun, so I thought it might be worth checking in on progress here?

The actual age of haikyuu boys and girl

I always have this questions in mind : what is the actual age of the first second amd third years in haikyuu ? Some people said that the third years were born in 1998, the second years in 1999 and firts years in 2000 but others says that to know the actual age we have to focus when haikyuu started to be published ? What do you think ?

Which type of English do we use on the Wiki?

Hey, sorry for a potentially slightly confusing post. I’ve looked through all the rules and stuff, and haven’t been able to find it, but is there any rules regarding what form of English we use here on the Haikyuu!! Wiki? For example, my country uses a mixture of Australian English and British English, so some of our spellings are different to those from America. An example of this would be the word "colour" or "color". Sorry for such a pointless question, I was just wondering if there was any preferred form of English to use on the wiki, or if it didn’t overly matter. Thank you, Midnight

Character statistics

Hey everyone, so there's been the recent problem with users changing statistics on character pages because they believe these stats no long apply. This is especially relevant on Hinata's page and I was thinking that we could update the ability template to include a title (link here ) stating "Original Statistics" or something similar to that; I'm not sure about the title, so we could certainly change that. Hopefully, this would help clarify things and prevent future situations like this. What do you guys think?

Messing around with Character pages???

Okay I just wanted to notice you all: I don't know who would usually go around and fix such things but I'm currently already working on fixing it with Tsukishimas page. It has been messed around with as well and I'm not quite sure if I found all the things that where changed and not true at all. I dislike to ask for it but you should put a protection stage 1 on his page as well as it seems to get to be a new sport messing with Wiki pages for peoples own fun. I really hate this and I hope I got everything changed back to normal. If anyone finds anything thats still wrong I'd really appreacite if its fixed soon? I'd offer myself to fix it if I get messaged about it. Greetings Luke

He, She, and They

Not sure if this kind of post is allowed, but this has been bothering me for a while. I won't deny that I haven't been guilty of it as well, but it's only because I didn't want to cause conflict at the time (what I hope to start now is a disscusion). The Haruichi Furudate page currently uses "he/she" as whenever it describes Furudate. That's totally fine since it's grammatically correct. However, I do understand why users have been changing it to "they". To be honest, I would personally prefer "they" - it sounds more natural and looks much cleaner. Sure, it's not grammatically correct, but English has never been clearcut. Maybe proper writing has a certain style that must be followed, but it can't be helped that people want to write naturally on a wiki. While there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, I believe that some grammar rules are flexible and should be acknowledged without just being labled as either only wrong or only correct. Also, using "they" to refer to something singular isn't something new. I will admit that it might be when it comes to referecing someone of unidentifiable gender, but with modernism and the growing trend of agender, I wouldn't be surprised if this somehow becomes the norm in the future. Something I noticed that doesn't help is that the wiki isn't consistent. In Manual of Style, this is what is written:

Personality — The personality of the character (what he/she acts like, their nature)

So whose right and whose wrong? If the majority wants to keep it as "he/she", then do so. All I'm asking for is for it to be clearly stated and enforced that the Haikyuu!! wiki uses proper (and I mean, PROPER) English. To say that something isn't grammarly correctly can always be debated. Last thing - I honestly believe there are worse grammar issues on the wiki that could be focused on.

Ages of Characters

Hello. I'm not sure if we already had a discussion about this but should the age of character go by the manga or the anime? It is currently October 27th in the anime (the Karasuno vs. Shiratorizawa match) and as of Chapter 218 it is December 9th. I just wanted to make this clear because of other wiki contributors changing the ages of characters. I've just been going by the manga. Thank you.

Template update

Hi, I've read through the guidelines and couldn't find anything about this so i thought id post it here. I was going to edit the template on the shosetsuban volume page so that the volume covers could be displayed alongside the volumes chapters (so it looks like mangas volume list). I was just going to use the same template code as the manga volume list but i just wanted to check that it was ok to do this. Thank you :)

Why is the Bee Movie Script being put on every character's page? It's getting quite annoying to scroll down, as it takes forever :( Can someone do something about it?

Dear Haikyuu!! Wiki Users, Recently, New Contributor 1qaz2wdc3edc4rfv had created pages for each Volume of the Haikyū!! series (example below Wiki Contributor 1qaz2wdc3efv's defense). There were, however, several complaints from Wiki users about the Volume pages, stating that they were unnecessary since the Volume List page supposedly lists all the required amount of information about the Volumes. Because of this problem, a major voting session was made to decide whether or not the Wiki should keep or discard these pages. It is highly recommended that all Wiki users that see this voting session thread vote as it will more accurately represent the Haikyuu!! Wiki Community. _________________________________________________________________________ When asked, Wiki Contributor 1qaz2wdc3edc4rfv provided a defense to state his/her reasons for creating the pages and his/her reason of why the pages should be kept. The following is Wiki Contributor 1qaz2wdc3efv's statement and points: "The two main reasons why there should be separate volume pages in addition to a unified page that lists all the volumes: need for information and ease of access. First, there are certain information that can only be included in an individual volume page. For example, the characters illustrated on the front and back face of the dust jacket, the spine, and front and back cover. Then there are the facts uniquely included in the volume such as extra illustrations and character statistics. Another useful info that can be added in the individual volume pages are the sale figures. If we decide to cram all these information from all the volumes into one single page, then we are crowding that page; it’ll become unnavigable to the typical user. However, if we decide to omit such facts to avoid overcrowding, then we are doing a disservice to the wiki. After all, the examples I mentioned above are all legitimate information that a wiki should contain. As alluded earlier, the second reason why there should be a separate volume page is to make it easier for a user to navigate the wiki. Wiki sites from One Piece to the Prince of Tennis to Naruto and to the Polish’ Haikyuu, all uses a separate volume page and a unified page. We should do the same. Relationship Pages

So I noticed recently that a lot of the relationship pages (the new layout ones) use a specific format. Some relationship pages still don't have that format and I'm thinking of fixing that. However, as I was looking at Hinata's or Kageyama's pages, I noticed that the realationships are all clumped together, making it hard to tell which is which, so I was wondering, does anyone know how to separate each relationship? Like, is it possible to add a break (for example, a line) between each character(s)?

Dear Haikyuu!! Wiki Users, Recently, the most active admin of the Haikyuu!! Wiki, whose name shall not be released due privacy reasons, had becomes involved in several discussions with several users that debated his/her qualities for being an admin. After a few weeks of this great debate, the former admin peacefully agreed to revoke his/her own admin rights. Currently, the admin has not revoked his/her rights yet, but an election for a replacement of the admin has been decided by several Haikyuu!! Wiki users to take place. In order for this election to be fair and equal, I, along with several other users, have decided to run the election in this fashion (that can be changed if the Wiki community reasonably agrees to the change): To Vote: To vote, you must comment on this thread on the appropiate time. Your comment must be titled "Vote:" and must state the name of the Candidate you are voting for. Then, your comment must include a valid reason of at least five sentences that explains the reason of your vote.

- - Please remember that your vote should be based of solely the skill and abilities of the Candidate and not your personal relationship with the person.

***The starting date for elections will be Monday, the 25th of May 2015. Voting Qualifications and Rules: 1) You must have a registered account that has at least five edits. All users in the "No group" group with five or more edits will receive a notification about this election by the end of Saturday, the 16th of May 2015. 2) The account you are voting with cannot hold the position of Administration. 3) Canidates in this election are prohibited from voting. 4) A valid five sentence reasoning must be included in your vote. 5) Votes cannot be influenced by personal relationships with the Candidate. 6) Your vote must be titled correctly. 7) Voting using more than one account is prohibited; it is cheating. 8) Each person can only vote one time. 9) Each person can only vote for one canidate. Your vote will be invalidated if you do not comply with one or more of the qualifications and rules listed above. Please keep in mind that cheating is not tolerated. Anyone caught cheating will have their vote invalidated and will face severe consequences administered by the current administrators. ***The starting date for elections will be Monday, the 25th of May 2015. To become a Candidate: To become a Candidate, you must either leave a message first titled "Candidate Submission:" on this thread or a message on my message wall similarly titled "Candidate Submission." Then, you must state the include a reason or "speech" of why the community should vote for them. Any pictures, links, or videos will also be allowed and encouraged. Please keep in mind that dishonesty is not tolerated. Any Candidate that is dishonest in their Candidate Submission will be disqualified from being a Candidate. Their vote will also be invalidated. Candidate Qualifications and Rules: BEFORE THE LAST DAY OF CANDIDATE SUBMISSIONS, YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Have at least a very basic understanding of the how the Wiki works. Knowledge of things such as programming or how to use edit pages in Source editor mode are not required but will give you a major advantage. 2) Have at least 10 twenty-five or more characters edits on the account you wish to use to become a candidate. Though not required, it is highly recommended that you familiarize yourself with the Wiki Community Central and Admin Support: Admin Mentor Program. These pages and sites will all greatly aid you in become an admin. Please also note that anyone, including previous admins, that meet these qualifications can become a candidate, but also please keep in mind that the community will be voting on you based on your work and other qualities that you may posses. The current admins will also most likely judge candidates harsher than the community. ***The last day for Candidate Submissions will be Sunday, the 24th of May 2015 at 11:59 PM (ET). To Win: Because the Wiki's size is growing everyday, it has been decided that there will be two winners. The first winner will recieve Bureacrat rights while the second winner will recieve Admin rights. To win first place, you must simply be the Candidate with the most votes by the end of the last day of elections, and to win second place, you must have the second highest amount of votes. Please keep in mind that cheating is not tolerated. Anyone caught cheating will have their vote invalidated and will face severe consequences administered by the current administrators. DATES: Today (Sunday, the 10th of May 2015) is the starting date for Candidate Submissions. The last day for Candidate Submissions will be Sunday, the 24th of May 2015 at 11:59 PM (ET). The starting date for elections will be Monday, the 25th of May 2015. The last day for elections has not yet been agreed on. This election is supposed to represent the Haikyuu!! Wiki community, so if you meet the qualifications for voting and see this thread, please vote at the appropriate time. Revoke KidProdigy's Rights

This is a general vote for all members of the wiki in order to revoke KidProdigy's rights or maintain them. Please keep in mind that all personal negative opinions about the admin should be refrained - this is purely professional and all opinions should be in regard to his capability or incapability as an admin. To begin this thread, we will sum up the recent events of the past current weeks. On April 20, 2015 - I, TheLittleRabbit (also known as NoyaThePenguin), sent a message, which could be found here , to KidProdigy with the request to make several changes to the wiki. Each change was carefully created on my sandbox wiki to make sure he would get the full picture of everything before any changes were made. He fully agree to the changes and before I made of, I asked the currently active members (Healnarutoule and Fattieschan) at that time if they would agree with the changes and they fully supported them. With both KidProdigy and the other's support, me, Healnarutoule and Fattieschan began to change the pages. After three days of extensive editing and hardwork, we edited a large number of pages. Days after, KidProdigy began to unexpectedly delete numerous pages, beginning with Shoyo Hinata's page. He claimed that he didn't like the layout, but why did he agree to it in the first place (he saw the layout too, please remember) if he didn't like the layout? After three days of hardwork, he finally claims that he doesn't like it? After deleting numerous character pages, episode pages and chapter pages, he began to change the main page and the navigation. Basically, he is turning the wiki back to its original form without any consent from any of the people who have edited the pages and given it their all. User Healnarutoule brought up the concern in this thread and even though many users asked if we could have a vote, he adamantly stated, “Unfortunately, it doesn't count for the new layout”. Many have asked him again and again if we could vote to keep the new layout, but with selfish reasonings, he decided against listening to our community and unilaterally decided to keep the old template. According to [[|practices for administrators Help:Best practices for administrators]] which is a page created by Community Wikia, "...admins don't make the rules and don't make unilateral decisions, but rather they use their tools to carry out the will of the community." It also states, "Just like in a democracy, when a Wikia community votes on decisions rather than decisions being made by an admin". Though this is what the wiki community encourages, he does everything against this, so therefore, we seem him unfit as an admin. Admins should listen to their community, not use their power to impose their personal views. If majority of currently active users agree with this notion, we will go ahead to Wikia Staff and ask them to revoke KidProdigy's rights. Thank you.

Hinata's Page

TheLittleRabbit added the whole "Overview/'History/Plot/Relationships" tabs onto Hinata Shoyo's page and moved the "background, plot, relationships, etc" to those sub pages but for some reason, his page has been reverted back to the way it was before the changes. I checked the recent activity and all but no one changed the page so...Does anyone know what happened and why his page has been reverted back? And can I recode it?
