Oikawa was going through some things, prolly internalized homophobia, Hinata was right there, there was tension, there was Hinata and kageyama's decently open relationship, they were grown adults, and oihina forked in Brazil. I think it was a matter of Hinata and oikawa were into each other just enough for the tension to be palpable, and sho was able to help oikawa come to terms with being fruity, and I feel like while they were adults having fun and being kinda stupid, shoyo also at some point was like "hey oikawa, you're gay my dude" and kinda helped oikawa work through feeling cuz sho is a good person and shi. anyways oihina forked in brazil, thank you for coming to my ted talk. or a bokuto would say, liszto talk. (I KNOW WHO YOU ARE)

This ship currently has over 12K tagged fics on Ao3, and for good reason. It also attracts tons of haters, mainly "my ship is more canon than yours" types who think that shipping should only be based on canon, vs "I like these two people and they would work well together".

No other popular ships for them touch me the same way and I think it's because they challenge each other's personalities. This isn't Golden Retriever x Angry Cat, or Brat x Brat Tamer; they're BOTH "too blunt jerks" (Suna and Motoya said this in the manga) who would probably have to learn how to compromise and mellow out for each other. It's not even like they're strangers; they were in youth camp (most likely as first years too), they played against each other, then MSBY, JNT and Team A. So they've played together longer than they've played with the other people they're commonly shipped with and know each other well. Their few canon interactions show a level of familiarity; they banter rather than fight. And I love that dynamic so much!

I really, really like Kenma and I don't want to see him being the weaker person in the relationship. Kenma has spent years growing up under Kuro's wing, and in many ways he's dependent on Kuro. And that creates a power imbalance in the relationship.

When there's power imbalance, consent becomes an issue. It's really hard for the person with the lower social status to say no because there are consequences. They end up doing things they don't want, because they think they have to do it in order to avoid conflict. Kuro is much more confident and more skilled/experienced socially, plus he's older than Kenma. Kenma can be easily convinced and manipulated... and that's just not cool

It kills my suspension of disbelief when Kuro just does things to Kenma, because Kuro would never do that. He loves Kenma too much to potentially hurt Kenma, and he's too smart to doing anything that would ruin the good thing they have going on.

But it's a different story when they're both independent adults—Kenma finds his confidence and lives a life completely independently of Kuro. He's mature enough to be assertive and have things the way he wants. I can so imagine Kuro confessing when they're both grown up, and Kenma recognizing that there's no one in the world who will know him better, and there's no one who loves him as much as Kuro.
