"A Terrifying Apartment" (Japanese:
Overview[]
When Yachi begins looking for an apartment of her own, Madoka has her Madoka's co-worker go to an apartment that seems perfect but is supposedly rumored to be haunted. Tasked with expelling the supposed spirits, the office worker is faced with something incredibly odd.
Plot[]
Madoka notices how fretful Yachi is at trying to find the perfect apartment to move into. Hearing all of her daughter's concerns, Madoka decides to help out however she can.
The next day, she tasks her co-worker with looking into an apartment she has located that is both ideal and secure for a girl living alone. The one problem with the apartment is that it is supposedly haunted and Madoka wants her co-worker to expel any spirits that may be present. With her co-worker seeming to put his foot down on not wanting to go, Madoka assures him that he has no choice and sends him on the task anyway.
At the apartment, the office worker meets with Narita who will take him to look at the apartment and is ready to help Yachi however he can. At asking if the apartment is as bad as the rumors say, Narita admits that it is much cheaper and even a cash reward is being offered. He even shows the older man a video that actor Komi had done when he promised to stay a whole week in the dwelling but only lasted twenty minutes when he started to have strange convulsions and fainting spells.
Just as Narita is ready to lead the man into the apartment, he calls Madoka and says that he cannot go through with what she is asking of him. Madoka assures him that he is capable of the task and can polish his skills before hanging up. As the two approach the door to the apartment, they notice a young man in a sports uniform enter the apartment next door. While Madoka's co-worker feels a little better knowing there is someone willing to live next door to the apartment, Narita is puzzled since he states that there isn't anyone living in that apartment or any of the apartments surrounding it on either floor.
Finally entering the apartment, Madoka's co-worker right away spots a volleyball mysteriously sitting on the floor in front of him. Confused, he tries to pick the ball up but his hands phase right through it. Seeing this, Narita is now convinced that it's the haunting of an evil volleyball spirit that is said to be violent towards those who have played volleyball. Narita suddenly finds himself on the receiving end of the ball and is knocked out of the apartment followed by Madoka's co-worker who claims he's never played volleyball.
However, the ball, and several others that appear, state that they knew the office worker when he was in middle school and how he had kicked a volleyball into the rafters. Narita tries to defend himself by saying how careful he had been when he had played in school. Unfortunately, the volleyballs remind him of how he had run away and left them alone until he eventually returned.
The volleyballs decide to punish the two when Madoka's co-worker declares that he will just repeat his actions from middle school and kick them away. Suddenly, one of the volleyballs realizes that this isn't against the rules and decide to leave the two men alone and leave the apartment.
Later, Yachi is thanking her mother's co-worker for all the trouble he went through in looking into the apartment only to announce that she would rather not live in it from knowing everything that has happened. Back in her office, Madoka asks her co-worker if he can instead build a house.
