Overview[]
With various friends and supporters tuning in, the match between Karasuno and Kamomedai commences. The oddball combo wastes no time in clinching the momentous first point with their signature quick.
Plot[]
Hinata isn't disappointed after discovering that the Little Giant, real name Tenma Udai, has discontinued volleyball after high school; meanwhile, Hoshiumi comes to the unfavorable realization that no one will be underestimating him now that Kamomedai has made it far into the tournament. Most of Hoshiumi's teammates dismiss his silly remarks except Gao Hakuba, a 2-meter wing spiker who habitually gloats over his superior height to Hoshiumi. Hinata immediately recognizes Hakuba as the one who bumped into him on the first day. While the team members banter among themselves, Takeda ponders over the immense challenge Karasuno is about to face. He recalls Ukai describing Kamomedai as a fast-improving team with an impressive emphasis on serve-and-block.
In Miyagi, two of Hinata's classmates stumble upon a TV broadcasting the match live outside of Takinoue's appliance store. They grow excited at seeing their schoolmates on TV and hope to catch a glimpse of Hinata on the bench, believing the latter is only a helper. The two soon eat their words when Hinata is featured front and center as a key player.
Kamomedai's captain, Suwa, sends a troublesome serve to Karasuno right from the start. Daichi is forced to return a short pass back to Kageyama; however, the oddball combo is not fazed in the slightest. With Takeda's encouragement fresh in their minds, the crows are out to show everyone that they are the ones that dominate midair battles. Hinata successfully spikes past Kamomedai's three-man block. Afterwards, he takes the initiative to introduce himself to Hakuba as a follow-up of the latter's failure to notice Hinata days before.
