"Aone's Problem" (Japanese: ({{{2}}}) ) is the seventy-third chapter of the Haikyū-bu!! series, written and illustrated by Kyōhei Miyajima and was first released on June 7, 2021 on Shōnen Jump+.

Overview[]

When the Date Tech team learns of Aone's current concern, they do all they can to help the middle blocker but find that his problem may not be so easy to fix.

Plot[]

The volleyball players of Date Tech notice Aone standing in a corner looking incredibly depressed. Naturally, Futakuchi does not take the matter seriously which causes Koganegawa to be annoyed at his behavior toward Aone's mood. However, it's revealed that Aone is upset because he had tried to offer his seat on the train to someone else, but that person ended up running away in fright.

Futakuchi tries to help Aone feel better by trying to claim the passenger must have run off because they were allergic to the electromagnetic waves and Minovsky particles the middle blocker emits. The players think this is not a proper excuse but are quickly silenced when Futakuchi challenges them to think of something better that doesn't involve Aone's appearance.

Later on the train, Futakuchi thinks that the manner in which Aone offered his seat must be the reason why it was rejected. Recalling how the middle blocker has stated that no one will sit next to him on the train, the young ace thinks that Aone's intimidating appearance is most likely the reason behind this. Futakuchi continues to stick to the theory that Aone's appearance is what scares people and offers a demonstration when he sees an older man enter the train. He offers the man his seat, but the man turns down the offer. Futakuchi right away goes into a ramble that insults the older man and causes him to leave the train.

Having watched the entire scenario, Kamasaki suddenly appears with Moniwa and Sasaya. Since he and the other third-years are free, Kamasaki offers to show the team captain the proper way to offer someone a seat. As Kamasaki and Futakuchi are about to start bickering, Koganegawa notices another elderly person enter the train. Kamasaki dramatically offers his seat to the older man who politely declines the offer since he will be getting off at the next stop, but Kamasaki continues to offer his seat since he will be doing a wall sit workout during the ride. As Nametsu tries to get Aone to not be so upset over the matter, Koganegawa still wishes to help his upperclassman. Stating that they attend a technical school, the setter thinks they should invent something that will help.

Futakuchi thinks they should create a gravity machine that will increase pressure onto those who reject an offered seat, Obara thinks they should lower the ceiling so that everyone will have no choice but to sit down, and Onagawa thinks they should make a robot that will attack anyone who is not sitting. To Nametsu's shock, the retired third-years have somehow already constructed the items their juniors described but are talked out of using them when the train conductor threatens to call the authorities. Futakuchi realizes that they are wrong into thinking they should force people to sit and should instead make it easier to find a seat.

Sometime later, Fumi Enaga is doing a newscast presentation of Date Tech's new hovering seat that allows anyone to sit anywhere they want at anytime. When she asks Futakuchi why the chair was invented, Futakuchi claims that it was because they had seen how many elderly people did not have anywhere to sit and wanted to offer a solution. After mistaking Sasaya for the group's teacher, Fumi notices Kamasaki still performing his wall-sit technique and asks if he is demonstrating the chair's durability until she notices he is not sitting on anything. Futakuchi tries to continue the interview by stating the entire idea came from Aone's intentions and tries to get the middle blocker to add his own statement, but Fumi quickly becomes overwhelmed by Aone's intimidating appearance and decides to end the interview, making Nametsu wonder if they should have instead helped Aone improve his communication skills.

Later, Aone is on the train when he sees an older man arrive. He right away tries to offer his floating chair to the man only to see that he and others have their own chair. Unfortunately, several of the chairs began to malfunction and explode which led to production coming to an end.
