Appearance[]
He has light brown hair and thin, short eyebrows. His eyes are quite large, with small, dark irises. He's somewhat short and has a thin build.
He is only seen wearing the libero uniform consisting of a white jersey, yellow shorts, and sneakers. In the manga, he is shown wearing an arm sleeve on his right arm, but it was changed to an elbow pad in the anime.
Personality[]
It's shown that he's a lot more reserved and shyer than the other members of Johzenji. Where the other members tend to look easygoing, he often seems nervous. However, he does join in celebrations when the team makes successful plays. Tsuchiyu is also hardworking and is shown trying to save any ball he can.
Plot[]
Spring High Preliminary Arc[]
In the match against Karasuno, Tsuchiyu looks significantly much more nervous and agitated than his carefree teammates. In the first rally, Tsuchiyu manages to follow Numajiri's unclean pass to another teammate. As the first rally progresses, Tsuchiyu is able to get praise from his teammates once he digs Asahi's shot. During the second rally, Tsuchiyu makes another impressive save. Sometime later, Tsuchiyu and Numajiri are about to bump into each other which is something they notice; however, Numajiri lets way for the libero to dig and he successfully puts it up.
During a timeout shortly after, Tsuchiyu does not say anything as Johzenji gets lectured but is clearly surprised by Misaki finally deciding to make Okudake's expectations a reality.

As the team libero, Tsuchiyu is one of the team's better defenders. He can often make a receive of a serve or spike but struggles with attacks made by more powerful players and sometimes makes an off receive.
