Karasuno High Team Formation Arc[]

Chapters 1–35
Episodes: Season 1, 1–14

Shōyō Hinata, inspired by the Small Giant, wants to become a volleyball player. Tobio Kageyama, a child prodigy, tries to overcome his weaknesses and become a team player. Both of them join Karasuno High and take part in their volleyball club. The team gets rejuvenated due to the first-years' talent and ambition, and as a result, the team becomes stronger with older and former players coming back to assist in rebuilding the team as well as former relationships.

Interhigh Arc[]

Chapters: 36–71
Episodes: Season 1, 15–25

Karasuno takes part in Interhigh Tournament that happens in the early part of the academic year. They face Tokonami High in the first round and win it. They then face the highly intimidating Date Tech in the second round–a team famous for their Iron Wall. After a great struggle, Karasuno manages to defeat Date Tech. Then, they face the team that is second favorite to win—Aoba Johsai.

Tokyo Expedition Arc[]

Chapters: 72–96
Episodes: Season 2, 1–11

Karasuno is invited to a training camp to play against several other teams that specialize in various skills and have highly talented players. Hitoka Yachi becomes the manager while Hinata, Kageyama, Nishinoya, and Tanaka try to pass their exams to participate there. Karasuno faces off against other teams such as Fukurōdani Academy, Shinzen High, and Ubugawa High. Each team have its own unique strengths and even great players, which heavily tests Karasuno and their players. Karasuno try to improve in all aspects and also adds new techniques to their plays. By the time training camp is over, they end up becoming a better team overall.

Spring High Preliminary Arc[]

Chapters: 97–206
Episodes: Season 2, 11–25, and Season 3, 1–10 (with two OVAs).

The Spring High Preliminary Arc follows Karasuno's journey in Spring High tournament. They first face the gruff players of Ohgiminami High. Then, it is followed by Kakugawa High and one of the tallest players Karasuno has faced. They play against the chaotic Johzenji High in the third round and their unpredictability provides a different challenge for Karasuno to overcome.

In the fourth round, when facing Wakutani Minami High, they lose Daichi due to an injury, and Chikara Ennoshita struggles to situate himself in the game. In the semi's, Karasuno faces the much-anticipated Aoba Johsai, with Oikawa proving to be as dangerous as ever and a new player making things even harder. The match is intense and goes for three sets but eventually Karasuno manages to win it. Karasuno will face Shiratorizawa Academy in the finals that will determine who will represent Miyagi at Nationals.

Tokyo Nationals Arc[]

Chapters: 207–369
Episodes: Season 4, 1–25

With Karasuno becoming the representative for Miyagi, Kageyama's invitation to join the All-Japan Youth Camp causes Hinata to crash a first-years training camp at Shiratorizawa Academy out of fear of being left behind and hoping to become a more rounded player. Karasuno and Date Tech have a lengthy practice match that brings out Kageyama's struggles from the Youth camp.

Karasuno makes their way to Nationals, but small struggles and nerves arise at their first match. In the second round, Karasuno faces Inarizaki High, a team stated to be second favorite to win the tournament and consisting of highly talented and powerful players. Karasuno moves on to play their fated rival in the third round. During the fourth round, Karasuno plays against Kamomedai High, a team stated to be a max-level version of Date Tech with a Small Giant of their own who more than lives up to the title.

Final Arc[]

Several years after high school, Hinata has moved his training to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to learn all the skills of volleyball. While playing beach volleyball and struggling with homesickness, he meets with Tōru Oikawa, who helps him regain his strength, and he, in turn, reminds Oikawa of the joy of playing volleyball. After two years, Hinata returns to Japan with the goal of becoming part of the Division 1 team MSBY Black Jackals.

Achieving his goal and becoming part of the Jackals, Hinata's makes his debut while playing against the Schweiden Adlers that contains Wakatoshi Ushijima, Kōrai Hoshiumi, and Tobio Kageyama. Playing against some of his strongest rivals, Hinata proves how strong he has become during his time in Brazil.
