"Bokuto's Lies" (Japanese:
Overview[]
It's April Fool's Day and Bokuto enlists Kuroo's help to pull off successful pranks. However, the two soon learn the consequences of their actions on the day of pranks.
Plot[]
Sitting in a coffee shop, Bokuto asks Kuroo for his help in trying to prank Akaashi as it's April Fool's Day. Kuroo questions why the ace is asking him for help and is annoyed when Bokuto answers that Kuroo comes off as the sneaky type. Kuroo informs Bokuto of a special item located in the mountains that can help him become a better prankster. Bokuto believes his friend only for Kuroo to admit he was just fooling him. Kuroo goes on to say that he should just lie to Akaashi if he wants to prank him. Later at Fukurōdani, Bokuto tells Akaashi that he had just seen a UFO. Unfortunately, Akaashi was already on alert for Bokuto to try to prank him and does not believe him.
As he arrives for practice, Kuroo explains the reason for his tardiness as he was helping Bokuto think of a prank and notices that many of the other members have yet to arrive. A moment later, Yamamoto hurries into the gym while yelling that he saw a UFO. Kuroo right away does not believe the ace since this was same lie that Bokuto had come up with. Yamamoto continues to try to convince the two that he saw a real UFO outside, but they remain undeterred. After Yamamoto continues to insist he is telling the truth, Yaku decides to look outside and the members of the Nekoma team are startled to see an actual UFO in the sky.
As Kenma and Fukunaga compare this to an American movie they had seen, Kuroo calls Bokuto. When his friend answers, Kuroo learns that the members of Fukurōdani had also seen the UFO. Bokuto believes that his prank somehow became truth and decides to try to switch things around by claiming that it will soon start raining leopards.
Almost instantly, hundreds of leopards begin falling from the sky and causing chaos. Bokuto again decides to try to switch things up and claim that Kuroo will suddenly gain an incredible fortune. Kuroo tries to get Bokuto to stop exaggerating but Bokuto continues when he playfully remarks that it would seem comical if Kuroo were suddenly abducted by the UFO. The moment Bokuto finishes speaking, the members of Nekoma are horrified to see the UFO arrive and use a beam to abduct Kuroo. Kai arrives a moment later and explains that he was late due to the sudden appearance of all the leopards. The others try to inform him that Kuroo was just kidnapped by the spaceship, but the vice captain merely laughs it off from thinking his teammates are trying to prank him.
On the ship, Kuroo is strapped down to an examination table and finds himself meeting aliens that resemble members of the Nohebi volleyball team. Kuroo tries to claim that he would not be suitable for consumption but learns from the Suguru lookalike that they are not planning on eating Kuroo and instead want to learn where the source of lies are coming from on Earth. Kuroo begins to mentally curse Bokuto for getting him in this predicament but also comes to realize that the ace and his fibs are also his only hope of escaping.
Back on Earth, Akaashi is trying to figure out everything that is going on. Bokuto starts to realize that lying on April Fool's Day has somehow caused his lies to become true and is the reason for everything that has happened so far. He tries to claim that the UFO, leopards, and Kuroo being kidnapped were all a lie and that everything will be fine. Seemingly at his wits end, Akaashi decides to put his trust in Bokuto and claim that he believes the ace. At this, Bokuto assures the setter that Kuroo will be brought back to them. Suddenly, Kuroo is placed before them while still attached to some of the ship equipment. Bokuto decides to claim that everything that happened was part of his prank while trying to keep Akaashi from listening to Kuroo as he states that everything was indeed real.
At Nekoma High, Kenma tries to explain to Nekomata that Kuroo is not present as he was kidnapped by the UFO. Knowing that today is April Fool's Day, Nekomata questions how they could not have come up with a better excuse for Kuroo's absence.
