"Chapter 12" is the twelfth chapter of the Let's! Haikyū!? series, written and illustrated by Retsu.
Overview[]
The aftermath of the practice match is shown and Karasuno's guardian deity finally appears.
Plot[]
When Karasuno's weakness of poor receives is pointed out, Daichi gives away that Karasuno's defensive specialist is due to return while also giving away his name, height, year, and reason for not being at the club.
The Mystery of the Deep Sea Animal: Oikawa comments on how much Kageyama has changed and how there is no one who can match his sets. Despite this, Oikawa is certain that his animals will not lose to Kageyama's. Iwaizumi tries to get Oikawa to say that he shouldn't lose when it comes to volleyball, Oikawa ignores him and decides to feed his animals. However, he tells Tōru's 1, 2, and 3 that they will not be fed because he is aware they have been eating when no one is looking. The disturbing news causes Iwaizumi to back away.
Drowsy Habits: Seeing how weary Hinata is, Ennoshita tries to get him to head home while Yamaguchi and Tsukishima tease Hinata for nearly falling asleep on his feet. However, in his drowsy state, Hinata suggests that Ennoshita should head home since no one would notice. He then tries to rub Tanaka's head and then tries to kiss Daichi.
Sugawara the Reuser: Yamaguchi notices a broken broom and asks to throw it away. Sugawara decides against it by saying that they can fix the broom and re-use it. When Yamaguchi asks to throw away a worn out and damaged net, Sugawara assures him that they can fix and re-use the net. Sugawara continues his assurance when Yamaguchi brings out a damaged jersey and volleyball. Daichi comments how Sugawara is the King of Frugality and doesn't notice how Kageyama became tense at hearing someone else be called a king.
Perorin Receive: Kageyama unleashes a powerful serve only to see Nishinoya make a perfect receive and send it right back to where the setter would be positioned. The talented image Nishinoya portrayed of himself is quickly ended when he screams out in pain of having bit his tongue when making the receive.
Uniform Fetish: Kageyama questions Nishinoya about why he had decided to attend Karasuno. Nishinoya, now wearing a girl's uniform, answers that he chose to attend Karasuno because of the way the girl's uniform looks. Kiyoko suddenly arrives in the gym, causing Nishinoya to excitedly launch himself at her only to be slapped.
The Ones Looking Down, Being Looked Down Upon: To Nishinoya's annoyance, Hinata tearfully expresses how there is finally someone shorter than him. Hinata suddenly remembers how Takeda is actually shorter than them. This leads to Takeda consuming numerous GunGun bars and ignoring Kiyoko trying to stop him. The result of eating so many causes Takeda to grow into a large, muscular being.
Fellow Disciples: Sugawara notices how Nishinoya is still in top shape despite being away for a while. Tanaka reveals that Nishinoya has been secretly training with the ladies teams. Hinata excitedly tells Nishinoya that he too had once trained on a team with mom's. Hearing this, Nishinoya announces that he had also learned from Mamkiko Yamamura. The two stuff volleyballs under their shirts and are unaware of Mamkiko watching and commenting how they still have yet to master the bouncing technique.
