"Chapter 18" is the chapter of the Let's! Haikyū!? series, written and illustrated by Retsu.
Overview[]
Karasuno and Nekoma face one another in a practice match.
Plot[]
Takeda asks Kiyoko to help everyone get cleaned up but, because everyone is still covered in Hinata's vomit, he mistakes Tsukishima for Kiyoko simply because of the glasses.
Bushy: Yamamoto and Tanaka face one another as they defend their teammates. Tanaka grabs hold of Yamamoto's mohawk but is shocked to find it come to life and ensnare him.
Independence: At seeing Kiyoko, Yamamoto and his now sentient hair quickly fall in love. Yamamoto's hair, named Bushy, tears itself from his head, grabs Kiyoko, and begins running off with Yamamoto and Tanaka giving chase.
In The Literal Sense: Kuroo and Daichi shake hands and wish for a good game. Kuroo suddenly bites Daichi and deems him inedible as a source of food.
Yodel Yodel: Ukai reunites with Naoi and points out how he has not changed since their last encounter with the exception of a sort of demon that is hanging on him. Naoi states that the creature in question is actually the demon Coach Nekomata who is promising that Nekoma will not lose.
Attention On The Spectator Stands: While pushing Shimada in a cart, Takinoue insists that they stay to watch the match for a while. Shimada agrees but reminds his friend that he has deliveries to do. Gengorō Takahashi arrives and is ready to join the two in watching the match when he is suddenly swarmed by Kenma, Kuroo, and Nekomata. According to Naoi, this is because Takahashi smells like the fish from his work.
Kiyoko's Explanatory Diagram: Nekoma goes through their pre-game speech. Having heard Kuroo's description, Kiyoko attempts to draw Kenma in the manner mentioned but comes out with a misshapen creature that scares Asahi.
Match Begins: As the game starts, Asahi notices that Kuroo has turned into his cat form. Despite this, he is still able to get a spike past the catman. He is given great praise from Hinata and Nishinoya and hugs them out of fear but his strength begins to accidentally smother the two.
