"Chapter 6" is the sixth chapter of the Let's! Haikyū!? series, written and illustrated by Retsu.
Overview[]
The 3-on-3 match begins.
Plot[]
As the game begins, Tanaka fully strips after scoring the first point; ignoring Ennoshita and Sugawara telling him to calm down and keep his clothing on and also seeming to not notice Kiyoko looking away in disgust.
Imprinting: Daichi receives Kageyama's serve. He states that he has had two more years worth of receiving than they have, but also reveals that he fears dry skin and has made sure to keep his skin well hydrated through moisturizers.
Trauma: Kageyama remembers how he had sent a toss to one of his teammates but saw that no one was there to hit it. He right away saw how their rejection was telling him that they would no longer stand with him. From the ravine in the memory, a human insect creature appear before the young setter. In the present, Kageyama finishes his story to Hinata and Sugawara who question if such a thing was possible.
Tsukishima's Weak Point: When Hinata states that he doesn't care about Kageyama's troubled past and says that he's happy since he got a set, Tsukishima comments how Hinata's genuine and straightforward personality irritates him. Hinata replies how a toss is like a friend to him that asks for his presence. Tsukishima starts to become visibly shaken by Hinata continuing to state how basically everything is his friend.
Trauma Once Again: Hinata calls out to Kageyama that he is there and ready to receive his set. Just as Kageyama is going to send the ball to him, the floor splits open and the human insect creature from his earlier flashback appears and grabs hold of his leg. Kageyama falls to the floor, panicking that the creature is present and doesn't seem to hear Tanaka pointing out that nothing is there.
The Person I Long For: Kageyama points out how a quick attack may be impossible for him and Hinata to do since they still are not syncing up. While Hinata is surprised to hear that Kageyama has such a word in his vocabulary, Sugawara tells Kageyama that even someone like Napoleon has said that there is no such thing as impossible. Inspired, Kageyama suddenly mounts Tobio Kaiser as Daichi scolds him for allowing his horse into the gym.
Can I Be The Straight Man: Hinata crashes into the net and Tanaka comments how he looks like he's fishing. When Hinata suddenly starts crawling around the net with ease, Tanaka asks if the first year is like a spider. Hinata then turns the net into a hammock to nap which confuses Tanaka further. Hinata's last stunt is of the net covering him while he's sitting on a kotatsu which Tanaka guesses symbolizes Hinata pretending to be oranges on the kotatsu.
Always: Sugawara highly praises Kageyama's setting abilities and acknowledges these skills as something he himself lacks. Tanaka tries to convince Sugawara that he is a gifted player. Daichi advises Tanaka to listen carefully for once and to also put his clothes back on since he is still naked.
