"Chapter 8" is the eighth chapter of the Let's! Haikyū!? series, written and illustrated by Retsu.

Overview[]

The new members of the team meet the team advisor, or so their upperclassmen say.

Plot[]

Kageyama spots the Vice-Principal feeding Tobio Kaiser and Tobio Falcon still clutching his toupee.

Distortion: Takeda enters the gym with the announcement that he has set up a practice match against Aoba Johsai High. Unfortunately, his short height and youthful appearance cause Hinata and Kageyama to think he is a child. They start pinching his cheeks as Daichi tries to warn them that Takeda is actually a teacher.

Specialty: Takeda announces that he has managed to get a practice match for them set up. Daichi fears that Takeda has prostrated himself again but Takeda assures the captain that he hasn't, even though he states it's his specialty. Instead, he had allowed Irihata to toss him in the air.

Gift Politics: As the players are heading home, Kageyama notices how much trust Sugawara has from everyone and wonders how he can obtain that same trust. He hears Daichi offering to buy everyone a meat bun and figures that giving gifts is how he can start gaining everyone's trust. He hastily presents a large mansion to Hinata and asks him to be his dog for the rest of his life.

Clubroom: The first years are brought to the volleyball clubroom. Hinata spots a poster of an idol group on the wall and hears Sugawara tell them that they can hang put up a poster if they want to. Kageyama right away puts up a poster of his idol, King Louis XIV. However, Yamaguchi is spotted completely covering the walls with pictures of Tsukishima.

Topsy-Turvy: Tanaka points out how Hinata will be playing in his first ever practice match and asks if he is nervous. In his nervousness, Hinata mistakenly puts his jacket on his legs but then gets even more mixed up when he tries to get out of it.

Implied Meaning: Tanaka catches Hinata leaving while wearing his upperclassman's pants. Hearing a girl from the tennis club calling out Tanaka for being out in his boxers, Tsukishima starts commenting on the situation with hidden implications that Tanaka is a pervert.

More Than Expected: On the bus ride to Aoba Johsai, Tanaka notices how Hinata isn't looking like his usual self. He is soon proven right when Hinata becomes sick and starts vomiting. To the horror of the others, Hinata has puked so much that Tanaka is covered in vomit from head to toe.
