"Dateko Toy Story" (Japanese:
Overview[]
Date Tech unleashes a line of toys.
Plot[]
Date Tech's retired third-years are spotted boasting of an assortment of toys they have created. The current members of the volleyball team question why their upperclassmen are playing with toys and Futakuchi naturally pokes fun at his seniors for playing with toys instead of finding work.
Kamasaki explains that they made the toys as prizes for a local festival. He takes the chance to show the yoyo he created that, when used, will light up in a variety of colors but also emits a one million electric jolt that immediately causes several of the players to back away for concern of their safety. Kamasaki adds that he also made the yoyo weigh 10 kg so that it can also prevent lack of exercise. Futakuchi states that only someone like Kamasaki would find the toy enjoyable.
Sakunami spots a menko game and asks if the third-years made this as well. Sasaya confirms they did but that this version of the game has a twist and explains the cards will explode once used. Obara notices a doll and questions if it does anything dangerous. Moniwa explains that it's a regular doll but has AI intelligence so it can interact with whomever is playing with it. Nametsu thinks the doll would be perfect for young girls but soon changes her mind when Kamasaki states that the AI will allow its owner to know if they are properly taking care of the doll or if they are treating it poorly.
Futakuchi asks if they bothered to make anything normal. Kamasaki points out that Aone is holding a pogo stick that will launch the person using it straight into the stratosphere, a kendama that shoots a beam, and even a fidget spinner that also shoots a beam. Koganegawa locates a water gun that is surprisingly revealed to only shoot distilled water and is, therefore, the one and only normal toy.
Hearing the first- and second-years state that the toys may be too dangerous to use, the third-years start to see that their creations may need to be disposed of despite their attempts to find any good use for them. As they agree to dispose their inventions, the team suddenly notices the various dolls realize that they will be destroyed and voice their displeasure of this.
As the dolls begin surrounding the team, Nametsu questions how they can defend themselves. Futakuchi points out that they can simply use the third-years other toys to take care of the advancing dolls. The team begins attacking and manage to take down several dolls. In the chaos, the menko game suddenly catches fire and an explosion soon follows.
Coach Oiwake soon appears and finds the mess left over from the fight. The only explanation he is given about what he sees is that the team was playing with toys.
