"Exaltation" (Japanese: 昂揚 (こうよう) Kōyō) is the two hundred twenty-second chapter of the Haikyū!! series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. It was published in the 42nd issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump’s 2016 series.

 Overview Edit

Despite facing the immense pressure of Date Tech's combined blocks, Kageyama is delighted to have his skills put to the test. However, problem arises when Kageyama unexpectedly shouts to Nishinoya that he is in the way after the latter performs his signature "Rolling Thunder" move.

Plot Edit

During practice the day prior, Kageyama questions Coach Ukai about the "goody two-shoes" label and is assured that he should continue providing tosses that are easy to hit for the spikers. Back to the present, Date Tech shows off their skillful read blocking as they shut down Asahi's spike and followed up with a touch to the freak quick right off the bat.

As the practice match continues, Date Tech retains their lead and exerts heavy pressure on Karasuno, notably Kageyama. However, instead of succumbing to the pressure, Kageyama is enjoying being pushed to the limit against a formidable opponent. He continues to provide high quality setup to his teammates and is troubled to find them unable to follow through with scoring. Some time later, Futakuchi utilizes a feint to bypass Karasuno's blockers. Nishinoya reacts in time to make a perfect save with his "Rolling Thunder" move, but, much to everyone's surprise, Kageyama unexpectedly shouts at Nishinoya for getting in the way.
