"Fukurōdani Eating Contest" (Japanese:
Overview[]
Bokuto and Yukie face each other in an eating contest. Despite his optimism, Bokuto soon discovers that Yukie may be his most challenging opponent yet.
Plot[]
Noticing that Bokuto is in high spirits, the members of the Fukurōdani team wonder why he's in such a good mood. They believe that it's possibly related to the upcoming tournament and how some of them have heard Bokuto talking about a certain person he is aiming to beat.
Akaashi tries to get Bokuto to end practice so he doesn't overwork himself. Instead of getting upset, Bokuto points to Yukie and declares that he's ready to defeat her. When they leave school, Konoha explains that Bokuto had previously challenged Yukie to an eating contest and had a shameful defeat. Even knowing that Yukie has a large appetite, Akaashi is unsure if she could really beat Bokuto in an eating contest but Konoha and Sarukui claim she is similar to Kirby when it comes to eating. As they arrive at the restaurant, the Fukurōdani players become startled when Yukie is instantly recognized by the staff who address her as 'The Queen' and even the restaurant owner personally welcoming her. Based on the treatment Yukie is receiving, Konoha tries to tell Bokuto that he might not be up for the challenge but Bokuto has become fixated on becoming known as 'The King' if he is able to beat Yukie.
The first challenge is presented to the two in the form of two large bowls overflowing with food. Bokuto and Yukie are instructed that if they manage to finish ten dishes of the Elizabeth Killer, they will win the challenge. As a crowd starts to form around them, Konoha sees that the excited atmosphere is fueling Bokuto's own excitement. However, just as the owner starts the challenge, Yukie has already finished the entire bowl.
Eventually, Yukie is able to finish a fifth bowl by the time Bokuto is halfway through his second serving. The ace starts to become depressed at how things are going but refuses to accept defeat and continues to push forward in hopes of finally beating Yukie. Akaashi tries to get Bokuto to see how impossible it would be for him to beat Yukie by pointing out that she's ordering more food even though they're still in the middle of the contest.
Yukie finally reaches her last bowl, and the boys are shocked to see that the final one is so much larger than the previous ones. The restaurant owner explains that this challenging menu was created with the sole purpose of defeating Yukie. During this brief conversation, Yukie has finished nearly forty percent of the dish.
Seeing Bokuto's look of despair at seeing the final bowl, Akaashi asks if he is now willing to surrender. Bokuto again refuses to call it quits, saying that they never back down when playing against a strong opponent, and continues eating. As Bokuto finally starts receiving cheers from the crowd, Konoha points out that Yukie is down to her last bite. Before she eats the last bite, Yukie reads the room and declares that she cannot eat anymore. This allows Bokuto to finish his own dish. As he is cheered on, Konoha has noticed that Yukie had actually been eating from Bokuto's bowl when he wasn't looking.
Even as the others feel that the contest is over, Yukie is heard asking Bokuto what they should eat next.
