"Go, Go, Michimiya!" (Japanese:
Overview[]
Sugawara suspects that Michimiya is finally ready to confess to Daichi. However, while Daichi is knowledgeable when it comes to volleyball, he is soon proven to be the opposite when it comes to romance.
Plot[]
At Karasuno High, Michimiya approaches Sugawara with a question relating to Daichi. Sugawara quickly runs into the boy's bathroom and loudly yells for Daichi to perish before going back to Michimiya who had heard the entire thing.
The two head outside where Sugawara guesses Michimiya wants to talk about how she's finally ready to confess to Daichi. The young woman quickly denies the idea but does ask if Daichi possibly likes anyone at the moment. Sugawara suggests that she ask Daichi directly, but Michimiya feels she can't, saying that the conversations between her and Daichi always seem to be related to volleyball and how it seems like there's a gap that's growing between them now. She feels this is becoming more apparent since the boys' volleyball team has made it to Nationals and Michimiya has heard how the players have become more popular and even admired by the female students.
Sugawara tries to assure Michimiya that Daichi is just a simple person who doesn't always take notice of things like a girl giving him romantic attention. Michimiya tries to argue that she gives Daichi a lot of attention and even gives personal contact, although Sugawara says that the physical contact may be 'cheap' since she uses it too much and it therefore may not mean anything. Sugawara explains that touch can be effective but it will work best when used during certain moments and unexpectedly, using the time Kiyoko held his hands during the match against Shiratorizawa as an example. Unfortunately, the reference reminds Michimiya that Daichi too had tried to hold Kiyoko's hand in that moment, and she suspects that he likes the team manager. Sugawara again suggests that Michimiya should just ask Daichi directly if he likes anyone and offers to help her get ready for it.
That night after practice has ended, Michimiya 'happens' to run into Daichi when he is leaving the gym. She casually mentions how she was checking on her team before asking if Sugawara was around. When Daichi answers that Sugawara and Asahi have already left, Michimiya becomes stunned, thinking that Sugawara has ditched her in order to make her talk to Daichi directly.
Unknown to the two, Sugawara is hiding in some nearby bushes with Asahi as they watch the two captains. Asahi doesn't fully understand what is happening and Sugawara refuses to tell him right away since he thinks the ace may do more harm than good. Michimiya herself is struggling with her own situation, believing it's not possible for her to ask Daichi if there was anyone he likes. Daichi begins telling her about the day and how Tanaka was being his usual self in trying too hard to shower Kiyoko with affection and states that sometimes people like Tanaka and Kiyoko are known to get together.
Michimiya suddenly brings up how she and Daichi have known each other since middle school and mentions how people might suspect people like them end up together as well. Unfortunately, Daichi plays it off as a joke and that people surely wouldn't think this of them. In the bushes, Sugawara is becoming angered at how Daichi is handling the situation and Asahi finally realizes what's going on. The two see how Daichi seems completely oblivious to romantic feelings and continue to watch as Daichi suddenly asks Michimiya what kind of charm she would like from one of the shrines in Tokyo.
Seeing she is confused by the question, Daichi holds up the certain victory charm that Michimiya had given him before the Shiratorizawa match and feels that he must do something in return for having received such a gift that he feels helped them make it to Nationals. As he starts rambling about how he wishes the charm would allow Karasuno to win at Nationals and Kageyama being at the All-Japan Youth Camp, Michimiya sees that it may not be possible to talk to Daichi about anything other than volleyball for the time being. In return for the charm she gave him, she asks for a good luck charm and the news that they won at Nationals.
Daichi accepts but begins asking what kind of good luck charm she would want. He asks if she would like a romance charm so she can possibly meet someone special and basically confirming to Michimiya that he is too dense to notice anything other than volleyball.
