Junji Kuroishi (Japanese: 黒石 (くろいし) 淳二 (じゅんじ) Kuroishi Junji) is a first-year student at Hakusuikan High School.

Appearance[]

Kuroishi has short, slicked brown hair that swoops down across his left eyebrow. His eyes are about the same color as his hair. He can usually be seen with a slightly bored expression with his eyes lidded. He is an above average size for a libero in the series, standing at 173 cm.

Personality[]

While not much of his personality is shown, Kuroishi appears to be calm and collected majority of the time. He displays careful thinking and actions when playing in a game.

Plot[]

Spring High Preliminary Arc[]

Hakusuikan High School lost to Shiratorizawa in straight sets in the quarterfinals of the Spring High Qualifiers (0:2 / 17-25, 19-25).

Tokyo Nationals Arc[]

Preparation for Nationals[]

Kuroishi's first appearance is in the Chapter "Lost". He is introduced as a first-year and the libero for Hakusuikan High School.

On the first day of camp, Kuroishi partners up with Tsukishima for warm-up drills when the rookies are told to find someone with different skill sets from theirs. Although he did not express it much, he appeared to be weary of the height difference between himself and Tsukishima.

During a game against the Shiratorizawa third-years and alumni, he would unintentionally remind Hinata of the Split Step technique. However, he fails to receive one of Ushijima's serves, which makes Hinata realize that the split-step technique isn't perfect. Later, he is mostly seen during the practice matches receiving hits from players like Reon, and Ushijima, as well as serves from Semi. In one of the later days, Kuroishi is seen being paired with Kunimi during a 2-on-2 match, where he sets for Kunimi. He would later be paired with Hyakuzawa where he would again demonstrate his setting when Hyakuzawa was able to deliver a high first touch of the ball.

Statistics[]

Kuroishi s4-e3-1

Despite not seeing much of his abilities, it is hinted he is a skilled libero as he was capable of receiving one of Eita Semi's serves during the Training Camp. He possibly has some tennis knowledge as he was seen demonstrating the Split Step technique, a technique that Hinata himself had learned from a friend in the tennis club in middle school. Kuroishi has also shown that he is fairly decent when setting.

Trivia[]

  • Kuroishi shared his Japanese and English voice actors with other characters.
