Appearance[]
Kanbayashi is a fairly tall young man, with light hair and dark eyes. As the libero of Kamomedai, he wears a contrasting black jersey with the number 13 on it. On court, he wears black kneepads.
Personality[]
Not much is known about Kanbayashi's personality, but he seems to be a friendly person and supporting teammate.

Tokyo Nationals Arc[]
Kageyama pulls an impressing serve and right after when Hoshiumi serves, Kanbayashi notices that Hoshiumi is trying to compete with Kageyama's serve, which Suwa agrees with. Later on, Hoshiumi serves too harshly and after landing on Karasuno's side of the court, the ball goes straight back into Kamomedai's side, and Kanbayashi is barely able to bump it.
Not long after, Asahi pulls an impressive serve, but Kanbayashi is still able to bump it, which awes Mika but makes her wonder how people can even do these kinds of things.[1] Not long after, Kageyama serves, and Kanbayashi can barely bump it. Later on, Karasuno pulls their synchro-attack, but Kanbayashi is able to impressively dig it, which surprises his teammates. Into the third set, Tanaka does a cross-shot, which Kanbayashi is barely able to dig until it shoots out of his hands. Following their victory, Kanbayashi shakes Yamaguchi's hand.[2]

As the regular libero for his team, Kanbayashi seems to have good receiving skills. Mika has commented on how he had managed to efficiently dig one of Asahi's serves.

- Kamomedai HIgh: Kanbayashi seems to get along well with his teammates. Although he tries his best to prevent Hoshiumi from surpassing him in receives, Hoshiumi still respects him as his senior and the team's libero, surprising the team multiple times throughout the match with his receiving skills.

- Favorite Food: Chicken and Scallion Skewer (Japanese:

- Current Concern: If he slacks off, he will lose to Hoshiumi in receives.
- Volume 28 Chapter 245 showcases Kamomedai’s #13 during the match against Chikuida. However, that player does not appear to be Kanbayashi as they have different physical features, that player was in the front row, and was not wearing Kamomedai’s libero uniform. It is most likely that the concept for Kanbayashi’s character had not been created yet.
