Appearance[]
Fukatani wears Sarukawa's headband around his spiky black hair. Although he is tall for the average Japanese male, he is one of Sarukawa's shortest players.
Personality[]
Not much is known about Fukatani's personality, but he seems like a reliable person.
Plot[]
Near the end of the second set, Fukatani serves, but he gets frustrated seeing it go out-of-bounds. He apologizes to his captain, but isn't blamed for losing the rally. When Shiramine explains to his team that Kenma attempted to lure the blockers away from the left, Fukatani questions when that had happened, impressed at Kenma's skills. Nearing the end of the second set, Sarukawa starts to worry when they notice that Nekoma wants to lure out their blockers. Seeing this, Shishio tells his team that their pressure would only result in their loss and that Kenma was still exhausted either way.

Like the rest of his team, he is excellent at receiving and digging. Fukatani is also shown to do a jump serve.

- Sarukawa Tech High: Fukatani seems to have a good relationship with his team as he follows his superiors' orders with no visible objection. Additionally, his teammates were still supportive of him despite Fukatani having failed his serve.

- Fukatani shared his English voice actor with Yasushi Kamasaki (season 2–present), Tatsuya Mori, Takurō Oiwake (season 1), Tatsuki Washio (season 2), and Yunohama.
- He was possibly named after Fukatani Onsen, an onsen district in northern part of Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
