"King of the Court: Part 2" (Japanese: コート
Overview[]
Kageyama proves that he is a force to be reckoned with as he cleverly maneuvers his spikers on the court. With the lessons he learned from Karasuno deeply ingrained into his mind, Kageyama continues to provide the best tosses and lives up to his reputation as the "King of the Court."
Plot[]
Kageyama's unexpected decision to let the ball fly over the net instead of setting it puts Adlers at 12-9. The Jackals call for a timeout. Atsumu blames Hinata for losing the last point, claiming that the latter "woke" Kageyama up, much to Hinata's confusion; meanwhile, Kindaichi and Kunimi ponder over Kageyama going overseas next year and whether he can communicate properly in a foreign language.
The set resumes with Kageyama's fourth serve. Hinata receives it cleanly, and Bokuto scores with a line shot. After few more rotations, Atsumu scores a no-touch service ace to help the Jackals close in on the Adlers. Hoshiumi bumps Atsumu's second serve, and Kageyama tosses to Romero while Hirugami acts as a decoy in the middle. The former Karasuno first-years quickly recognized that Kageyama is sparsely using his middle blockers despite his preference for quicks. The rally drags on until Kageyama unexpectedly tosses to Hirugami, who scores after the Jackals focused their attention on the wing spikers.
Later, Hinata is unable to stop Kageyama's powerful serve and sends the ball flying back toward the Adlers. All Adlers spikers move in to attack, causing great confusion to the Jackals. Kageyama once again tosses to Hirugami in the middle and successfully earns another point. Adlers lead 20-17. Tsukishima explains that Kageyama has been staying away from using the middle on purpose to slowly break up Jackals' bunch shift blocking formation. While the game continues, Ukai notes that Kageyama is thinking ahead and laying the groundwork for future plays. Hinata recalls Atsumu's words earlier about being at fault. Atsumu remarks that Kageyama used to be a goody-two-shoes but did a full 180 (sudden change from a particular opinion, decision, or plan to an opposite one) and became demanding with his sets during the Spring Tournament. Despite that, Karasuno rose to the challenge and responded properly to Kageyama's sets. Atsumu blames Karasuno, especially Hinata, for teaching Kageyama that he could get away with doing whatever he wanted.
Having learned during his time with Karasuno, Kageyama prepares to set with full intention of meeting his spikers' expectations. He tosses to Hirugami and earns another point. Now fully trusting his spikers and cleverly using them to the best of his ability, Kageyama is truly embodying his role as the "King of the Court."
