"Kuroo's Demonic Hair" (Japanese:
Overview[]
When Kuroo changes his normal sleeping routine, he finds his hair being affected by the change.
Plot[]
One morning at Nekoma High, the players of the boys' volleyball team are surprised to see that Kuroo's trademark hair fringe is not where it usually is and his hair is completely styled upward. With some of the team almost not recognizing their captain, Kuroo explains that he has changed to a new pillow and slept differently than he usually does: thus, his hair was not styled in the manner in which they are familiar with. Since he is still getting use to the new pillow, Kuroo is certain that his hair will change back in no time.
The next morning, however, Kuroo arrives and his hair has somehow become longer and thicker, making Yamamoto and Lev comment how Kuroo looks like a Super Saiyan and can possibly fire a Kamehameha. Their comments also led Fukunaga to make his own comment about a kami living in Kuroo's hair but the others don't take his pun seriously. Yaku suddenly thinks that he's figured out what's wrong and claims that Kuroo is under a curse for preferring girls with long hair and his only cure being that he should convert to Yaku's side. Kuroo does not accept Yaku's solution and feels that Kai is the only one he can count on for a straightforward suggestion. Unfortunately, because he has a shaved head, Kai doesn't think that he is the best choice to help Kuroo. With no other options, Kuroo decides to wait one more day to see if anything else happens.
The follow morning, Kuroo arrives to school, and everyone is shocked to see that his hair has now taken on the form of a possible hair spirit, making Fukunaga's previous comment of a kami in his hair plausible. With the hair now having taken on life and growing even bigger, Kuroo is also looking visibly thinner. Yaku and Yamamoto decide to take action by attempting to cut Kuroo's hair before it gets any worse. When Yamamoto attempts to get close, Kuroo's hair stuns everyone by actually interacting with the ace and knocking him and the scissors away. Although he's not sure how it can help, Kai suggests that Kuroo should go to the hospital.
At the hospital, the doctor is also stumped at what could be causing Kuroo's hair to act in the manner it is. Noticing how Kuroo has lost weight, the doctor decides to take Kuroo's measurements. As Kuroo is moving to another room, he runs into Suguru who right away teases him for needing to be at a vet instead of the hospital. Kuroo right away jabs back with Suguru being at the hospital to nurse his wounded love life. Seeing that Kuroo is going to have his height measured, Suguru comments how the middle blocker shouldn't cheat this time but also notices Kuroo's hair. When Kuroo comes back from being measured and weighed, Kuroo announces that he now stands at two meters and thirty-eight centimeters tall but weighs less than normal. When Suguru points out that this increase in height is because of Kuroo's hair, he attempts to reach out to it but suddenly finds himself in a submission hold by the sentient hair.
Kuroo's hair suddenly starts moving and talking, slightly levitating the middle blocker from the floor, and revealing that it has come to life because it distains the way Kuroo sleeps and puts it through pain. As it announces that it will take over Kuroo's body and no one will be able to stop it, Kenma thinks he has a solution and takes Kuroo to have his hair cared for at a salon.
Kuroo returns to school the next day with his usual hair and looking better. However, Kenma appears right after him with the dark roots of his hair having come to life and claiming that it is not happy with how Kenma keeps it half-dyed. When it's suggested that he stop dying his hair, Kenma does so and his hair soon returns to normal.
