Overview[]
Kuroo and Tsukishima successfully thwart many spikes from the opposing team. Lev also shows his growth into a formidable middle blocker by seamlessly working with his teammates. As a proof of his newfound love for volleyball, Tsukishima breaks through Nekoma's defense with a combo quick attack with Kageyama.
Plot[]
Tsukishima puts Kuroo's teaching into practice and successfully blocks Kai's spike. Yaku keeps the ball in play but sends a chance ball back to Karasuno. Kuroo lands a one-touch on Asahi's spike, allowing Kenma to toss to Yamamoto on the left. Tsukishima quickly reads Kenma's intention and marks Yamamoto, who resorts to a feint at the last minute to bypass Tsukishima's block. Tanaka saves the falling ball but sends it directly on top of the net. Tsukishima and Kuroo jostles for the ball with Kuroo ultimately claiming a point for Nekoma.
Afterwards, the two exchange friendly banter telling the other to not try so hard. Kuroo soon becomes pensive. He knows that the ideal is a block that kills a spike completely, but he is also aware of the utmost importance of restricting the path of a spike. In the following play, Kuroo remains a constant obstacle for Karasuno, eventually forcing Tanaka to spike out-of-bounds. When he passes by Tsukishima again, Kuroo acknowledges his student's persistent blocks and indirectly reveals that he recognized Tsukishima's potential early on.
Later, Daichi receives Kuroo's serve, and Kageyama tosses to Asahi. Also, remembering Kuroo's teaching about blocking and teamwork, Lev successfully limits Asahi's spike path, forcing Asahi to spike toward where Kuroo is standing. The ball is cleanly returned to Kenma while Nekoma gears up for another synchronized attack. Kenma entrusts the ball to Kuroo for a back row attack, but Tsukishima is able to land a one-touch. Immediately, Kageyama feels the intense pressure from Lev. However, both he and Tsukishima refuse to back down. Kageyama uses a short distance toss to a high point for Tsukishima to spike before Nekoma can react. The tactic is effective as Tsukishima scores for Karasuno.
