I was just wondering if chapter pages were meant to be the same as the Viz translation, or a more literal translation of the Japanese original? E.g. Their Respective Nights is The Night Before in the Viz release.
Just wondering what the convention was.
The chapter titles are meant to follow Viz translation. The majority of the chapter pages were made before Viz translation became accessible through simulcast so many of them are based on fan translations. I have been going in and fixing them. So far, Vol 1 - 13 and those after 330~ are matching. The rest need to be renamed.
sorry about this coming after i asked about adding locations but do you know of a good translator that can get me the closest correct kanji translation for the locations? I would like to add them as i add more pages but so far google translation is the best i got =^^=; if it's possible you can help with this, i really appreciate it. if not, maybe someone smarter than me can add the kanji. thanks in advance.
I think Google Translation works pretty well. Also since the locations are based on real life, it should be pretty easy to find the actual Kanji if you search these places up in the search bar. Another helpful site is jisho.org. I don't know if it's that useful for location names but it might help. If you input kanji into jisho, it will display the hiragana you need for the ruby template.
i just noticed that there were some changes to who's the ace on the Black Jackals. I think that the ace is Bokuto because at the start of Chapter 392, Atsumu tells Bokuto not to get mopey if he didn't score of his sets, but Bokuto ressures him that he won't as he's the ace.
sorry it's not a sourced photo, i just screenshoted off Viz
Personally, I prefer to remove the ace title from the Jackals' page altogether. The problem with this is Bokuto is never explicitly acknowledged as Black Jackals' ace by other people or commentators. He refers to himself as the ace in that chapter, and we can see that it's heavily related to his role as ace for Fukurodani.
hope all is good for you and your part of the world. I've been meaning to ask this since i've had it on my mind lately but since i'm still a little clutzy dealing with this, i was wondering if it would be possible to get step-by-step instructions of how to add locations? I've wanted to add the Tokyo stadium and possibly a few other spots but i didn't want to take the chance of accidentally messing anything up. Thanks for your time.
Thanks for helping out! Here are some instructions to creating a new location page. It's pretty straightforward but please let me know if you have any other questions.
I want to add that there's only 1 location page so far, so it's fine if you want to improve on the templates or add more sections. Also, I added a ruby template to the page to help display the Hiragana characters above the Kanji. The ruby template is embedded inside the translation template, so you have to edit it in source mode. If you have trouble with it, it's perfectly fine to leave it blank, and I can fill it out later if needed. Once you create the new page, I can add them to the navigation bar above (only admin has permission for this).
Hello. I wanted to inquire about the recent edits I made being reverted. I don't understand why player #10 of the Black Jackals has his name translated as "Oriver." Based on both Viz Media's official translation and what I've found elsewhere, the katakana used for his given name (オリバー) translates to Oliver. As far as I can tell, "Oriver" is not used as a given name, so I don't think it makes sense to translate the katakana as such, even when the lack of an L sound in the Japanese language is considered. If the "バー" in the name can be translated as "ver," despite it phonetically being "bā," then I think translating "リ" as "li" is this context is appropriate.
The original Japanese version included a English translation of his name. It's written "Oriver" and that's why we kept it as Oriver and added a note that it was changed to "Oliver" in the English translation by Viz Media.
I wanted to make a category devoted to Outside Hitters just as I did for Opposite Hitters. Would you prefer me to change the position of "Wing Spiker" as a whole to "Outside Hitter" instead? Or would you rather I put "Outside Hitter" in parentheses alongside "Wing Spiker"?
Please change Wing Spiker to Outside Hitter instead of the added parentheses. The main reason is because some other characters will have "(Former)" or some other description after their position. I think it's cleaner if we don't have two parentheses one after another.
Is it ok for me to start a disscussion about Haikyu? I know that sounds REALLY vague but i really want to find a place where i can just talk about Haikyu in general. I started loving Haikyu in Feb and to this day, and just want to talk to someone / people about Haikyu instead of to myself!
If that's not the best place to talk about it, and somewhere else would be more appropriate then that would be fine.
It's okay, we can keep your blog. It's a blog post so it doesn't matter if it has repeated information. Also, that someone only added the OSTs to the first three season, but not the 4th. I saw you have done some work for the OVAs and 4th season. If you want, you can add the sections to those episode pages as well.
If you still want to delete, I believe you should be able to delete your own blog.
Yes please! Go ahead and add them. It's something I have been meaning to do but never got around to adding the manga images. So this is a great help!
It's perfectly fine if the manga pictures are not the same size as the anime images, but try to keep it to a square or landscape if possible. The portrait dimension doesn't look as good with the infoboxes since it leaves empty white space around the sides. Thanks again!
Also, I uploaded a photo of Natsu but she had a little bit of text in the bubble, is it okay if I removed that text just so it would look a bit cleaner in the character infobox? (I uploaded a clean version afterwards)
If not, I'll try to get a different picture or play around with the cropping.
Sorry to bother you but I added a promotional picture of season 4 that was uploaded to the Haikyuu twitter. I'm fairly certain it's official, is that okay? I put it under "character designs and promotional" but I wanted to run it by you.
