"Moon's Halo" (Japanese:
Overview[]
Under heavy pressure, Shiratorizawa finally shows a momentary sign of weakness. Tsukishima, who has been playing a waiting game, capitalizes on the moment to seize a second set win for Karasuno.
Plot[]
The day before the qualifier finals, Tsukishima converses with Yamaguchi about how he can't defeat Ushijima. However, he states that he will try to block the Shiratorizawa ace a few times.
Tsukishima deflects Ushijima's spike, and Hinata jumps over the court enclosure to keep the stray ball in play. Tanaka passes it back to Kageyama, who spikes despite being far from the net. The ball scrapes the net but goes over. Kawanishi makes a save but returns the ball directly back to Karasuno. Hinata immediately charges in and scores with a minus tempo quick from the back row. Afterward, Asahi praises Tsukishima for his block on Ushijima. Tsukishima denies the credit and notes that Hinata had to cover for them, but Asahi insists that Tsukishima's block made the follow-up possible. Meanwhile, Ushijima sternly requests Shirabu to send more tosses to him.
Hinata blunders his second serve and almost sends it out-of-bounds. Goshiki, unwilling to take a risk at such a crucial moment, hesitated before making a subpar receive. Shiratorizawa is in disarray, but Ushijima quickly breaks through Karasuno's defense with pure power. Hinata switches out for Nishinoya while Goshiki prepares to serve. Daichi struggles to keep Goshiki's serve in play. Kageyama sets to Asahi. Kawanishi blocks Asahi's spike, and Tanaka saves the rebounding ball. Karasuno executes a synchronized attack and pushes their score into the 30s.
As Karasuno's defence continues to pressure Shiratorizawa, Shirabu is growing agitated at the need to open up a path for his spikers. Tsukishima has been waiting for Shirabu to crack and purposely leaves an opening to goad Ushijima into spiking there. Tsukishima closes the gap at the last second and successfully shuts down Ushijima's spike. He snatches the highly sought after point and takes the set for Karasuno. Afterward, Tsukishima fist-bumps in victory as he experiences that "moment" that gets him hooked onto volleyball.
