Plot

Tsukishima walks by the third gym when he is suddenly asked by Kuroo and Bokuto to block a few of Bokuto's spikes. Tsukishima tries to turn down the invitation as Bokuto complains that spiking practice is meaningless with someone blocking. Tsukishima suggests that he find someone from Fukurōdani to block but Akaashi replies that their teammates have already vanished as none of them wish to stay for the long practices Bokuto goes through. Kuroo cannot assist because he has been helping Lev work on his receives.

Kuroo tries to encourages Tsukishima that Bokuto would be good blocking practice for him as Bokuto is one of the top five ace's in the nation. When Tsukishima does refuses, Kuroo provokes the first year in joining when he taunts Tsukishima about needing to work on his blocks. Tsukishima falls for the taunt and finally joins their practice. Hinata and Kageyama realize the new quick is still not coming together and are encourages to continue practicing by Yachi.

In the third gym, Bokuto continues to request more sets from Akaashi and each time he gets by Tsukishima. Tsukishima nearly stops a straight shot but Bokuto skillfully ricochets the ball off Tsukishima's arm to score. Kuroo eventually joins in the block and requests Tsukishima to keep an eye out for the straight shot. Bokuto attempts a cross shot but Kuroo ultimately blocks him, impressing Tsukishima in the process. Bokuto tells Tsukishima that, while he's good at reading, his blocks are still flimsy at best. Annoyed, Tsukishima points out that he's still a first year with plenty of time to bulk up and grow even more; inadvertently pointing out how he is taller than Bokuto.

Kuroo warns Tsukishima of being outdone by Hinata if he doesn't start taking things a little more seriously. Tsukishima grows quiet at the jab until pointing out that there is a big difference between himself and Hinata when it comes to potential. The conversation is ended when several Nekoma players arrive and Tsukishima takes the chance to leave. Akaashi and Bokuto right away tease Kuroo about having upset Tsukishima. Kuroo admits that he didn't mean to and didn't know Tsukishima would react this way. When Bokuto asks what he means, Kuroo explains that Hinata is someone that they should all consider a great threat despite his lack of height and experience while Tsukishima, despite being taller and smarter, seems to consider himself inferior to Hinata with no chance of catching up to him.

While retrieving his forgotten knee-pads, Tsukishima watches his teammates as they continue to work on their new tactics. He wonders how his teammates can continue to put so much effort into something he sees as just a club and will hurt them in the end.

During the second day, Karasuno continues to lose matches and endure the penalty run. After their last run, the team manager's announces that watermelon has been donated by the Shinzen parent's. During the break, Kuroo approaches Daichi to apologize for upsetting Tsukishima. Daichi asks what happened and Kuroo explains how he warned Tsukishima is being overshadowed by Hinata if he wasn't careful.

Asahi recalls something similar to this when Karasuno had played against Date Tech High. Tanaka then reveals that his sister, Saeko, revealed that there was a player on the team back when she was in school who had the same last name.

Daichi and Asahi come to a realization that Tsukishima possibly has an older brother who played alongside the Little Giant.
