Overview[]
With Yamamoto determined to get the team a manager of their own, the Nekoma team attempt to learn how to speak to girls. They attempt a dating simulator game that is more challenging, and realistic, than they thought it would be.
Plot[]
At Nekoma High, Yamamoto declares that it's time the team had a manager. His proclamation falls on deaf ears until he pleads with Kuroo for the team to have a manager. Kuroo replies that Yamamoto should go find one for them since he wants a manager so badly. Yamamoto answers that he cannot do this since he has trouble talking to girls. The ace suddenly claims that he can learn and that he can accomplish this by playing a dating simulator game.
Several of the team players later follow Yamamoto to his home in order to watch the ace attempt to master the dating sim. As Yamamoto attempts to make a quick clean-up of his bedroom, he becomes annoyed when Yaku begins scavenging for a possible hidden stash of adult magazines the ace may be trying to keep secret.
The boys eventually get the game simulation started when Kuroo and Yaku quickly begin an argument of the hair length of the character Yamamoto should pick but they are ignored as Yamamoto picks a character with glasses, Kiyokawa, who holds a strong resemblance to that of Kiyoko. Wanting to get things moving, Kuroo asks Yamamoto to show them what skills he has learned only for the second-year to admit that he has failed to get any of the characters to date him yet.
The first challenge of the game appears when Kiyokawa is stated to be standing at the schools gates ready to head home. Yamamoto attempts to, vocally, ask her to go home with him but Kiyokawa is quickly disgusted at the thought. As they wonder if their affection points in the game are too low, Kuroo claims that it's all about how the guy sells himself. He attempts to asks Kiyokawa out by presenting himself with a great amount of charm but he too is turned down and called a playboy.
They begin to struggle with figuring out how to have the character like them when Yamamoto explains that they can purchase 30 love runes for 980 yen that will help in the game. It will also come in handy to prevent the characters from falling for someone else.
Kuroo begins to understand Yamamoto's situation of not being able to speak to girls. However, he deduces that since they are playing a game it is time for Kenma to take charge even though Kenma admits that he himself isn't great at talking to girls but does accept since the game will be challenging. Falling into his gaming mode, Kenma points out that all of Yamamoto's stats in the game are incredibly low and most likely one of the reason's he has not been successful.
Kenma easily begins to level-up the characters in game life by making it get a part-time job which will add money and strength, stating that the money can supply gifts and the strength will prevent other boys from attempting to take the girl of their affection. Kenma begins to surprise the watching players by pointing out things like Kiyokawa being on the track team and that gifting her new shoes will earn them more affection, how ignoring another girl will also add to their points, and continuing to study and keep their job will only make them stronger. In no time at all, Kenma has successfully gotten Kiyokawa to proclaim her love to him.
With Kenma beating the game, the boys declare that they are ready to handle real girls even though Kenma tries to tell them it might be harder with the real thing. As they are preparing to leave, Akane meets them at the door on their way out. Kuroo takes the chance to ask the younger girl what kind of guys girls really like. To their horror, she answers that girls don't like guys who play dating sim games.
