Karasuno is in the midst of preparing for the upcoming Spring Tournament. The team takes measurement for the tournament pamphlet before Takeda arrives to announce that Kageyama has been invited to an All-Japan Youth Training Camp.
Plot[]
One day mid-November, the Karasuno Boys' Volleyball Club Members just finished morning practice and are heading out to their classes. An old friend greets Hinata on the way and walks alongside him. The friends pause when he sees the huge sign on the school building congratulating the volleyball team on qualifying for nationals. He mentions that he is surprised but not incredulous at the result as he recalls Hinata's perseverance during middle school. Just then, Kiyoko calls out to Hinata to let him know they will be taking measurements for the tournament pamphlet later and asks him to let the other first-years know. Kageyama approaches Hinata to challenges him to a vertical reach competition. Hinata gladly accepts as the freak duo begins their usual bickering.

At Karasuno Café and Shimada Mart, Saeko and Shimada are helping to fundraise for the team's traveling cost to nationals. Takinoue and Coach Ukai are also calling up old team alumni and alumnae to ask for donations. Back in the staff room at school, Takeda receives a call and is given a piece of shocking news.
After school is over, the volleyball team members take their height and vertical reach measurement. The team is surprised to find Hinata's vertical reach significantly increased from before. Nishinoya concludes that it's due to Hinata always prioritizes height in his jumps while believing that Kageyama will always bring the ball to him. Just after they finish the measurements, Takeda enters the gym to announce that Kageyama has been invited to the All-Japan Youth Training Camp.

- It is revealed that one of Hinata's friends from Yukigaoka Junior High is also attending Karasuno with him.
- Hinata's friend remains unnamed in the manga but is revealed to be called "Acchan" in the anime. He is implied to be a newbie in the Karasuno band.
- He had also stated in a previous chapter that he was part of a sport club.
