Overview[]
Despite being energized by Asahi's spike, Karasuno is struggling to maintain their lead against Kamomedai. Hinata, fed up after being ignored by the blockers, boldly attempts the minus tempo quick using his improved jump.
Plot[]
Asahi's brilliant spike brings back the momentum for Karasuno while Kamomedai calls for a timeout. Inspired by the ace's performance, Hinata is determined to fulfill his role as the decoy and distract the blockers. Bokuto and Akaashi, who have come to observe the match, note that Karasuno is not out of the danger zone yet after depleting a great deal of energy in a drawn-out match against Nekoma.
Once the match resumes, Sugawara targets Hoshiumi with a serve for the third time only to find Kanbayashi taking the receive instead. Hoshiumi, now unrestrained, scores effortlessly to end Sugawara's brief turn on the court. On the spectators stand, Saeko wonders why Karasuno isn't utilizing their tallest blockers against Hoshiumi. She is soon dismayed after Udai and Akiteru explain that such tactics will only make it easier for Hoshiumi to perform his block-outs. After a few more exchange of points, Hoshiumi makes a devastating no-touch service ace to tie up the score at 20-20. Karasuno remains unfazed even in a tough situation. It takes Tanaka all of his efforts to keep Hoshiumi's next serve in play. While Kageyama prepares for a toss, Hinata has mobilized for a minus tempo quick using his improved jump. Kageyama accepts the impromptu challenge and aims his toss toward Hinata's spike point.
