"Sakusa's Problem" (Japanese:
Overview[]
At the All-Japan Youth Camp, Sakusa asks for a favor from several of the other invited players. However, they may not be able to carry out the task any more than Sakusa is.
Plot[]
At the Ajinomoto National Training Center, Sakusa approaches some of the other invited players and announces he has a favor he would like to ask of them. Atsumu wonders why Sakusa is being so formal to them all of a sudden and attempts to tease him but several of his jabs fall flat on the no-nonsense ace. As Hoshiumi begins asking Sakusa not to waste their rest time, Sakusa kneels down on a clean sheet and asks them to help with a situation that has come up and seems unaware at his behavior causing Atsumu and Hoshiumi to be nervous at what he might be asking of them.
Sakusa takes them back to his room and shamefully admits that he has seen a cockroach. Atsumu is flabbergasted that a roach is all it took to get Sakusa so worked up and admits that he had thought Sakusa had caused bodily harm on Komori. Sakusa states that he wouldn't do something that would cause him to dirty his hands but, to Komori's shock, does admit he had thought about it a few times because his cousin has left a few messes behind, such as leaving the sink area dirty and leaving crumbs behind.
Wanting to get the situation over with, Hoshiumi enters Sakusa's room and Atsumu notices how much Sakusa had packed. Sakusa confesses that he brings things from home since he would rather not use things that have been previously used by someone else. Atsumu comments that Sakusa is like Howl and Carl Fredricksen in that he wanted to move his entire home with him, but the movie references confuse Komori and Hoshiumi, making Atsumu declare that he misses Aran and his perfect comebacks. When Sakusa begins scolding Atsumu for thinking he was homesick, Hoshiumi suddenly spots the roach scurrying across the floor. At announcing he has seen it, Sakusa suddenly dives out of his room and into the hallway. Finding Sakusa's reaction a little over the top, Atsumu announces that he is used to seeing roaches since Osamu tends to eat in their bedroom at home. With Sakusa now putting a distance of fifty meters between them, the Itachiyama ace now solely relies on Hoshiumi to help him. When Hoshiumi asks why Sakusa is depending on him so much, he becomes angered when Sakusa answers that it's because Hoshiumi is at a lower eye level and will be able to find the roach more easily.
Thinking that Sakusa is making fun of him, Hoshiumi tells him to call on Kageyama or Eikichi to help him. Sakusa explains that he cannot ask them since he thinks that Kageyama's extremely dark hair may cause him to think that Kageyama is a roach, and that Eikichi has such messy hair that Sakusa thinks he may have roaches in it already. Hoshiumi soon spots the roach on Sakusa's can of Salonpas and attempts to use bug spray. Sakusa prevents him from using the spray, claiming that he will not be able to sleep in the room if chemicals have been used. Hoshiumi decides that he will just squish the roach, but Sakusa argues against this by claiming this will cause germs to be spread in various directions. Out of ideas, Hoshiumi asks Sakusa what they should do. Sakusa simply states that he can throw a lighter at the Salonpas bottle and extinguish the roach with fire.
The others attempt to talk Sakusa out of his plan, but Komori makes it worse when he states that he's heard that if one roach is nearby then there are sure to be many others. As Sakusa becomes determined to burn down the entire building, Kageyama suddenly appears and questions why they are causing such a commotion that is keeping him up. When he learns that Sakusa has become frightened of a roach in his room, Kageyama surprises everyone by getting a plastic bag and a pair of chopsticks and catches the roach with no problem. Sakusa asks how Kageyama can be undeterred by bugs but doesn't fully understand when Kageyama explains that he's use to a small being quickly scurrying around him.
The youth players all think that Kageyama is an amazing person but, at Nationals, Komori and Sakusa see that the opposite is true when they see Kageyama yelling at Hinata for running about and how his small size will cause him to get lost.
