"Santa Sometimes Robs" (Japanese:
Overview[]
Santa Tendō attempts to deliver presents to the children of the world. However, he finds it is much more challenging when he encounters a certain young strategist.
Plot[]
On Christmas Eve, Tendō and his reindeer travel through Japan to deliver presents. Coming to a house, Santa Tendō enters the bedroom through the window and quickly dodges the net that was set to catch him. Unfortunately, a second trap manages to catch him. Unable to move, Santa Tendō is now face to face with a young Kenma who reveals that he will be holding the Santa figure hostage unless he gives Kenma all of the games he has.
When Santa Tendō tries to talk Kenma into letting him go or else he will not get any gifts next Christmas, Kenma doubles down on his threat by stating he will alert the police of a grown man dressed as Santa in his house unless he gets the games. Impressed by Kenma's greed and genius, Santa Tendō offers to let the young boy join him in delivering gifts so he can see what others wish for with the promise of getting his games when they're done. With Santa Tendō giving his word he will keep his promise, Kenma agrees. When Kenma's mom pops in to warn him to go to bed because he's being too noisy, she spots her son hanging onto the large gift bag and follow Santa Tendō out into the night as she calls the police.
Santa Tendō and Kenma come to their first house on the list and enter the room of Akitomo who wishes for a single pair of new basketball shoes while his younger brother wants to be taller. Faced with such a crazy wish to grant, Santa Tendō leave a jar of calcium pills for Kōrai to take. As they travel to the next house, Kenma questions why Santa Tendō did not grant the young brother height like he wanted. Santa Tendō answers that he cannot grant that kind of wish and he and the child have to settle for the closest thing to the wish.
Arriving at the Ushijima home, Santa Tendō finds Ushijima's paper with his wish and is startled to see that the young boy is asking for his father to return to him. Unable to make such a request real, Santa Tendō leaves a doll of Takashi Utsui along with a book on physical training. As they leave the house, Santa Tendō admits that he is sometimes bothered by the choices he has to make.
The pair next arrive at the Miya house but find a light on, possibly from the twins still being awake. While lying in bed, Atsumu tells Osamu that this will surely be the year that Santa lets them ride in his sleight. Osamu is doubtful of Santa's existence but isn't able to get through to his twin who claims a mall Santa was the real Santa. The two boys quickly fall silent and are forced back to sleep when a strange mist enters their room. With Santa Tendō now wearing a mask to protect himself from the gas, Kenma voices his surprise that he hasn't been caught by someone else. Santa Tendō states that he sometimes has to use force with kids like the Miya's but is still able to successfully leave the gifts undetected.
They next travel to Iwaizumi's house. Seeing Iwaizumi is asleep, Santa Tendō checks his list and sees that the young boy is asking for a volleyball. He is about to grant the wish when Kenma questions if Iwaizumi is actually asleep based on his strange sleeping form. His suspicion is proven correct when Iwaizumi suddenly opens his eyes and calls for Oikawa. The two boys attempt to force Santa Tendō to give them a variety of gaming stations when Santa Tendō is forced to use the sleep gas on them. The two boys right away stop fighting and fall to the ground asleep.
Starting to feel tired himself, Kenma questions how much longer they will be going to houses. Fortunately, they only have one house left to visit. The house directly next to Kenma's and home to the new family that recently moved in, including Kuroo whom Kenma plays games with sometimes although he suspects Kuroo might not actually enjoy video games that much.
Santa Tendō checks Kuroo's list and sees his wish is to have a friend to play volleyball with. Kenma notes that this might not be a wish that can be granted when he notices the way Santa Tendō is staring at him. Kenma right away realizes what the Santa is implying and begins trying to get out of the situation as he does not like the physical effort needed to play volleyball as he'd rather the two of them play video games.
Kenma suddenly gets an idea and asks Santa Tendō for a volleyball themed game. He gets the item and places it in sight for Kuroo to see the next time they play games together. However, the opposite occurs when Kenma asks if there is a different game Kuroo would like to play and Kuroo runs home to grab a volleyball.
When the two play, Kuroo offers to let Kenma keep the ball they're playing with. Kenma tries to decline as he sees it would be a wasted effort and he doesn't want to take his new friend's ball. Kuroo replies that it won't be a problem as he had received numerous volleyballs from Santa.
