"Shimada Mart's Ad" (Japanese:
Overview[]
Shimada decides to make a commercial for his store. However, difficulties begin to arise when he and his cast are unsure of what kind of commercial they should make.
Plot[]
Shimada explains to several of his comrades that he has decided to make a television commercial in hopes of getting younger customers after noticing majority of his current customers are from the older generation. He has asked for Ukai, Saeko, Takinoue, and Akiteru to be part of the commercial since he needs young actors although Ukai doubts they can call themselves 'young' anymore.
Just as they're about to get started, Shimada notices how all of his actors are blonds, and some have numerous piercings and becomes concerned about how their fashion choices will make the commercial look. Ukai suggests that Shimada be part of the commercial, but Takinoue thinks it might only make it worse, phrasing it as it would make Shimada look like the kid who gets bullied by the delinquents. Takinoue then suggests that Saeko be given the sexy role in order to attract the teenage boys, but Akiteru calls this a bad idea.
Even though it may cause some confusion, Ukai thinks it might make them look less scary if they wear their work aprons. Takinoue agrees with the idea but remembers that he doesn't have a work apron of his own, which Shimada suggests that he just hold one of his electrical appliances.
They begin to film the commercial with Ukai, Saeko, and Akiteru perfectly performing their parts. The only hitch comes when Takinoue tries to act like a rapper with a boombox. Wanting a fresher look, Shimada asks if they can possibly get some of the Karasuno students to volunteer to be in the ad. Saeko suddenly asks if she should wear her old uniform when Takinoue suggests bringing in the volleyball team.
Ukai is uncertain of the idea, stating that Yamaguchi and Yachi would surely stutter their lines, Tsukishima and Kageyama will not give their best performances, Asahi wouldn't be able to look at the camera while Nishinoya would be too short to be in the same frame, Sugawara wouldn't be able to stop talking, Hinata wouldn't stay still, and Tanaka would just be his usual self. He finishes by saying that Kiyoko and Daichi wouldn't like to be on camera.
Hearing how the players may not be up to the commercial, Shimada thinks that it might be better to use the shop mascot. Takinoue and Akiteru are not so sure that would be a good idea, thinking the appearance of the mascot might scare the younger kids. Shimada announces that he actually had a commercial of the mascot made at an earlier time but decided not to use it and the part-time workers eventually left afterwards.
When Ukai makes an off-comment about needing someone famous, Akiteru states that he knows someone in the area with a well-known status and brings in Tenma Udai. Even though they're all aware of Udai's fame, they still keep in mind that he is more locally known. Shimada suddenly comes up with the idea of using all of the footage they've gotten so far and combine it all into a sort of movie ad.
The finished product shows the actors running away in fright from a large version of the Shimada mascot and Udai arriving as the hero to slay the beast. A couple of bystanders watching the commercial are unsure what to make of it.
