"Shiratorizawa’s Bigfoot Aftermath" (Japanese: ({{{2}}}) ) is the eighty-ninth chapter of the Haikyū-bu!! series, written and illustrated by Kyōhei Miyajima and was first released on January 24, 2022 on Shōnen Jump+.

Overview[]

Following their attempts to find Bigfoot, the Shiratorizawa team become stranded during a snowstorm.

Plot[]

With Komaki and Hyakuzawa having cleared up the Bigfoot scenario, several of the Shiratorizawa players are disappointed in not having been able to find the legendary creature. Shirabu warns the team that they should hurry back to school since it appears like a snowstorm is heading their way.

Unfortunately, it quickly becomes apparent that they are not sure which direction they need to go in order to return to town. Tendō takes the lead and offers to use his guessing skills to find their way home. His offer is immediately met with ridicule from Shirabu who believes that Tendō's abilities will not work. The third-year middle blocker decides to go forth with his plan and begins leading the team.

After several hours, the teens end up in a cave with Tendō admitting he has gotten them lost. While most of the others blame Tendō, Ushijima is able to change their minds when he continues to put his faith in his friend to get them home. Tendō announces that he had left a trail for them to follow by using rolled up articles of the Bigfoot news, but their way home is discovered to be of no use when the strong winds are revealed to have blown away the newspaper trail.

With the storm not letting up, the team decide to stay put in the cave until it is cleared up enough for them to leave. With no cell phones available for them to use, the teens find themselves truly on their own. As the storm is turning into a blizzard, they realize they will need to build a fire to keep warm. While most of the team gather whatever they can to build a fire, Tendō decides to warm his body and soul by reading a Shōnen Jump manga. With the others hard at work, Tendō attempts to lighten the mood by asking various questions but only receives rejections in his questions being answered or vague threats of physical harm. A fire is finally started, and the team form a plan to make it down the mountain in the morning if the storm has ceased by then.

As several hours go by, they begin to notice the fire is starting to die down. Realizing they risk freezing if they do not keep the fire going, the boys begin searching for ways to add fuel to the fire. This somehow leads Goshiki and Shirabu to roast Karasuno by mentioning how they were able to get plays through when they were thought to have no chance of succeeding. Amazingly, this is able to revive the fire and make it burn better than before.

Unfortunately, the opposite begins to happen when Reon and Semi voice their concerns over their future when Reon voices how he is most likely to not be scouted by a university like Ushijima and Semi wonders if he is a good musician. Tendō attempts to get Ushijima fired up by bringing up how the ace appeared intense when Hinata had been at the First Year Training Camp but Ushijima continually insists that he was acting normal. Goshiki pleads for Tendō to stop trying to fire up Ushijima instead of the fire. Tendō reminds his teammates that he has a manga with him that they can use to stay motivated.

Realizing that they can burn the manga, Shirabu and Yamagata try to get the book away from Tendō who quickly realizes what they are planning and tries to prevent them from taking the manga. In the struggle, Tendō insists they burn Semi's coat as he claims it is in poor fashion. Semi becomes angered at the comment and Tendō attempts to prove how the fur coat appears fake by reaching for Semi's sleeve but soon realizes that he has grabbed the arm of an actual Bigfoot that snuck into the cave to warm up by the fire when they weren't paying attention. As the actual Bigfoot quickly makes his escape, some of the teen's debate if they should chase after it but realize it would be too dangerous to follow it into the storm.

At Shiratorizawa Academy, Tendō finishes telling Washijō the 'thrilling' story of how they had found the real Bigfoot, but the elderly coach believes that the team gives him enough thrills from sneaking out and getting lost.
