Overview[]

Realizing he shouldn't be so hard on his team, Washijō decides to hold back on his harsh coaching methods and allows the team to have more fun during away games.

Plot[]

As they have dinner, Terano Washijō advices her husband to not be so hard on his team, having heard about the time he had made them run back to school when they played at an away game. Washijō tries to defend himself by saying that he did this because the players didn't seem as into the game as they usually are. Terano tells him that his harsh methods won't always be the solution to everything and may actually keep the players away once they graduate. Wanting to enjoy his dinner, Washijō agrees to ease up and let the team have more fun during the next away game.

At the next meeting, Washijō stuns the team by announcing they are permitted to bring 300 yen worth of snacks to enjoy during the next away game. He states that Tendō had once claimed that their trips feel like imprisonment and that allowing them to have a little fun will make it much more pleasing, although Tendō doesn't recall saying such a thing. Tendō questions the others about why their usually harsh coach is suddenly allowing them to bring treats for the next game but Goshiki and Yamagata are eager to accept this more relaxed version of Washijō. Hearing others talk about what treats to take, Washijō quickly cuts them off so they can start practice. Tendō hurries over to the coach and bluntly questions if his sudden generosity is possibly from knowing if his life will end soon, the question earning him a one hundred lap punishment.

While the team is at their next away game, Sakusa and Komori decide to sneak to the school where Shiratorizawa is playing in order to get a glimpse of the game. However, they instead witness the Shiratorizawa players talking about the snacks they brought to the game and quickly leave since they see what looks more like a field trip rather than the challenging match they were hoping to watch.

After the team returns home, Saitō mentions how the players seemed more excited than usual and thinks the allowance of snacks was a contributing factor. At the next team meeting, Washijō continues to stun the team by asking what they would like for the next away game. Tendō again asks the coach if his time is coming to end and earns a two hundred lap punishment. The rest of the team question what they should ask for when Ushijima suddenly asks for stricter practices. Semi is quick to have Ushijima's request ignored when he suggests that musical entertainment would make the bus ride more enjoyable since this is the most tiring part of the away games. He suggests that they should have a karaoke machine on the bus and Washijō surprisingly agrees to the request.

Aran spots the Shiratorizawa bus not too far from where he and the twins are and wonders what Ushijima is up to. He decides to get a look into the bus and is shocked to see Tendō singing a parody song of Doraemon's Gian's song that the rest of the team seem to be enjoying. The Inarizaki ace informs the brothers of what he saw. Hearing this, Atsumu declares that Aran should show his hip-hop skills but the third-year reminds him that he was born and raised in Kansai.

Preparing for their next away game, Taichi suggests that they be allowed to look at tourist spots since he thinks it's suffocating to only go to gym's. While visiting the Tokyo Skytree, the team is spotted by Bokuto and Akaashi. Their eager nature leads Akaashi to think they are there on a simple field trip.

For the next game, Yamagata suggests they be able to go to the beach with the reasoning that playing beach volleyball will help them workout their lower bodies. Washijō again agrees and introduces the team to Lucio Katō while there. For the last away game, Kiryū and Usuri have located where Shiratorizawa is staying and decide to head over to see what kind of practice they are doing. The two are surprised to find that the team is actually staying at an inn with an onsen.

The team relax in the hot springs and give their gratitude to Washijō for allowing them to enjoy relaxing after a tiring game. The coach himself starts to think that his wife was right about not needing to be so hard on the players and should instead let them enjoy themselves. As he thinks this, he can't help but feel that something is off but can't figure out what it is.

As he continues to think about it, Tendō approaches him and asks if their next trip could be in Hawaii. Washijō suddenly realizes that he is being taken advantage of from giving into the players requests. He tries to tell himself otherwise but listens as Tendō begins saying that he would also like to go to Brazil in order to see Nicollas Romero followed by a trip to Italy. At this, Washijō finally snaps and declares that everyone will be running back to school regardless that they are 1200 kilometers away.

Back at home, Washijō learns his wife heard that he had indeed made the team run all the way home from Oita.
