During the episode Match Begins!!, Towada has a flashback of the game. Ushijima spikes past Akimiya and Oyasu, while Towada fails to receive the ball. After this, the scoreboard shows 24-6 in Shiratorizawa's favor. Nevertheless, Akimiya tries to motivate his team, telling them they can still score. Ushijima spikes again and Yokote is barely able to receive it. The ball goes over Towada's head, but he chooses not to go after it as he knows they'll lose anyway. Despite this, Akimiya still runs after the ball but fails to carry the team, which concludes the match.
