Personality[]

Yokoyama appears to be an avid fan of volleyball and appears to favor the Karasuno team. He is well known to criticize plays he feels were bad but cheer for the one's he thinks were good.

Background[]

He appears to be a fan of Karasuno as he was seen attending one of their games when the third-years were first-years and seemed to know that Karasuno was a previous powerhouse team.

Plot[]

Spring High Preliminary Arc[]

Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa[]

When the Karasuno team arrived at the Sendai gym for the match against Shiratorizawa, Yokoyama is spotted by the third-years and is revealed to have attended previous games but would comment how the team is now known as the fallen champions.

During the first set, he notices how often Ushijima would get spikes past Tsukishima and remarks how the middle blocker is basically letting the ace score.

When Kageyama and Sugawara switch spots on the court, Yokoyama is so stunned by the play that he loses track over his words. As Yamaguchi is rotated off the court, Yokoyama will suddenly defend Karasuno from spectators who comment on the recent failed play. When Karasuno executed their Total Defense strategy, he complimented the team for making it work, although he added that it took longer than necessary. Like many others, he was incredibly surprised when Tsukishima was able to successfully block Ushijima and win the set for Karasuno.

However, he would become frustrated when Shiratorizawa took the third set after it looked like they were showing cracks in their plays. At the start of the fourth set, he is seen cheering for Nishinoya when he got Ushijima's spike back up. When Hinata used a running approach to block Reon, Yokoyama is stunned to see him pull off a full block. However, he states that if Hinata's block wasn't by accident, then the entire game has changed.

When Shiratorizawa reached set and match point, Yokoyama recalls how Karasuno had still been considered a powerhouse school several years earlier but did not have as much support as they currently do. Right then, he makes a loud plea for the Karasuno team to keep giving their best effort.

Tokyo Nationals Arc[]

Karasuno vs Inarizaki[]

Midway into the third set, Yokoyama is seen at a restaurant and frantically urges the team to score. Shortly after Hinata had received Aran's spike, Yokoyama expressed joy that the team was still putting up a fight, but it wouldn't be long before he became shocked at Inarizaki putting the score at 23-22.

Statistics[]

Although he appears to be a volleyball fan and has attended games in the past, Yokoyama appears to have just the basic level knowledge of volleyball as he can be seen being both unfamiliar with and surprised by the more advanced methods Karasuno has been using.

Relationships[]

Karasuno High[]

  • Karasuno High: Yokoyama seems to be a fan of the boys' volleyball team and has been seen attending some games as early as when the third-years were first-years. Although he criticized some of Karasuno's plays during the Shiratorizawa match, he is shown to support them just much.
