Overview[]
At the Tokyo Youth Training Camp, Kageyama meets and practices with the other high caliber players who were also invited. While they mix well on the court, tension soon arises due to strong, conflicting personalities. Meanwhile at Shiratorizawa Academy, Tsukishima invites Hinata to come with him.
Plot[]
Kageyama is eating with a first-year from Shinzen, Eikichi Chigaya, who Kageyama refers to as "Broccoli No.2". They make a small talk when Sakusa approaches to ask about Shiratorizawa's loss. He tries to pry for every piece of information about how Karasuno stopped Ushijima before being interrupted by Motoya Komori, who brushes off the serious atmosphere saying that Sakusa is a bit of a downer. Kageyama then proceeds to accuse Sakusa of holding back since the latter falls short of his reputation. Sakusa seems to be offended and eventually leaves with Komori in tow. Kageyama and Chigaya converse about the high skill level of the players at the training camp, in particular Kōrai Hoshiumi who, despite his short height, can jump even higher than Hinata.
During practice, the coaches observe Kageyama and praise his ability to adjust to the other players. Although he is awkward at communication, Kageyama is making an active effort to give the spikers the best toss. Later, Kageyama witnesses firsthand as Hoshiumi soars into the air to deliver an impressive end-line spike. After the practice match, the players are stretching when Hoshiumi approaches Kageyama. He questions if Kageyama had seen him play before and openly complains about Kageyama's indifference to his amazing jump. Kageyama admits to his amazement but bluntly adds that it was also a useful reference to Hoshiumi's displeasure. Atsumu Miya also joins in and provokes Kageyama by saying the latter plays like a goody two-shoes despite his prickly personality.
Meanwhile at Shiratorizawa, Tsukishima shocks Hinata when he asks the latter to come with him.
