Haikyū!! Wiki

"Stillness and Motion" (Japanese: (どう) (せい) Dō to Sei) is the ninety-second chapter of the Haikyū!! series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. It was published in the 6th-7th double issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump's 2014 series.

Overview[]

The last set for the training camp between Karasuno and Fukurodani commences. Hinata unexpectedly pulls of a surprise technique that Bokuto taught him, shocking opponents and teammates alike.

Plot[]

Preparing for their last day of the training camp, Kageyama questions Hinata if he has still been practicing properly since they have not been practicing together. Hinata answers that he has though Tsukishima teases him about it. Daichi is leaving the bathroom when he overhears a conversation between the coaches about something they have planned.

Nekoma has lost their match against Fukurōdani. Shibayama approaches the seniors with a list showing the win-loss tally of each team during the camp. Fukurōdani sits at the top of the chart with the most wins with Nekoma falling in at second, then Ubugawa, Shinzen, and Karasuno in last with only three wins.

The match between Karasuno and Ubugawa has ended with Karasuno losing. The Nekoma players watch as the team begin their flying lap penalty when Yaku notices how much Karasuno's little guy, Hinata, has improved in the action. Lev right away mistakenly points out that Yaku is not much taller than Hinata, sending Yaku into a rage as he kicks Lev in retaliation.

After their lap, Tanaka voices his frustration at how many times they've lost during the camp. Daichi tells them not to give up and reveals that he overheard something the coaches were planning. When pressed about what he heard, Daichi answers that he's learned the coaches are planning to hold a barbecue for the players.

Bokuto questions who they are playing next and Akaashi answers that Fukurōdani will next be playing against Karasuno, to the dismay of some of the players. Bokuto questions why they seem upset and his teammates answer that it's due to Karasuno being such an unpredictable team and they can never know what they will be planning. Yamato Sarukui thinks that the Karasuno team may possibly be tiring out only to suddenly see Tanaka, Nishinoya, Hinata, and Kageyama dancing and singing of the barbecue they learned of.

Ukai gathers the team together and tells them to get use to trying their new methods and savor when they are able to score. With Karasuno's final game being against Fukurōdani, Ukai warns them not to let Bokuto have his way when it comes to spiking. He tells them that, despite all the penalties they've done, they've all changed since the start of the camp and should be proud of the progress they've made. With the promise of a good meal afterwards, Karasuno heads onto the court to face Fukurōdani.

Asahi delivers a serve that throws Fukurōdani off but Akaashi is still able to get a clean set up to Bokuto. As they prepare to block, Tsukishima warns Kageyama of any openings as Bokuto will somehow manage to get through. They jump to block but Bokuto hits the ball against the block with enough force that it lands out.

After Hinata rotates back onto the court, he remembers the special move Bokuto taught him. The move will require perfect timing and perfect stance in order to pull it off. After Nishinoya makes a receive, Kageyama sets to Hinata. Akaashi and Wataru Onaga attempt to block but Hinata surprises everyone when he unleashes his new weapon, a feint shot. He gets the feint over the block and scores as the remaining Fukurōdani players attempt to save the ball but fail.

Hinata remembers how Bokuto mentioned when the success of the feint will cause the receivers to look up at him with confusion and frustration, describing it as the best feeling. Bokuto is the most surprised that Hinata used a feint attack against them until Akaashi reminds the ace that he was the one who taught it to the Karasuno middle blocker, earning Bokuto the annoyance of his team.

With Hinata's successful feint, Daichi encourages the team not to lose this final match against Fukurōdani. Bokuto is also determined not to let Karasuno get one more point off them.
