Tōgo Iwamuro (Japanese: 岩室 (いわむろ) 橙吾 (とうご) Iwamuro Tōgo) is a second-year student of Tsubakihara Academy and one of the volleyball team's middle blockers.

Appearance[]

Iwamuro often wears a somewhat annoyed expression. He has short, light brown hair with his bangs slightly covering his headband.

Background[]

Iwamuro was part of Tsubakihara's volleyball team as a first-year. They qualified for the Spring Tournament that year but were quickly defeated in the first round and made an early exit. After their loss, the team felt guilty for not doing more and ruining the third-years' chance at nationals.

Plot[]

Tokyo Nationals Arc[]

During Tsubakihara's match against Karasuno, Iwamuro purposely aims his serve to a spot where the back-row setter would be crossing paths with the front-row spiker. As a result, both Tanaka and Kageyama attempt to receive it, causing Tanaka to make a subpar save. Ukai notices Iwamuro's intention and acknowledges his skill to target the exact spot with ease.

Near the end of the first set, Iwamuro is benched for a pinch server, Himekawa. However, Himekawa messes up and drives his ceiling serve into the back of Teradomari's head due to being overly nervous. Later in the second set, Iwamuro once again switches out for Himekawa. This time, Himekawa scores two service aces in a row and contributes to the defense for a third point, greatly raising the team's morale[1]. After Karasuno ends Himekawa's serve streak, Himekawa is subbed out as Iwamuro returns to the court.

As the match continues, Tsubakihara manages to hold on and keep close to Karasuno's score. Iwamuro contributes in both blocking and spiking, but he falls for Hinata's decoy at match point and can't react fast enough to guard against Asahi's spike[2]. The team grows solemn after their loss while the third years shed tears. Right after, Ōsado tries to comfort his team by offering them lunch[3].
