Tatsuki Washio (Japanese: 鷲尾 (わしお) 辰生 (たつき) Washio Tatsuki) was a third-year student at Fukurōdani Academy. He played as one of the starting middle blockers for the Boys' Volleyball Team.

After high school, he becomes a middle blocker for EJP Raijin, a professional volleyball team in Division 1 of Japan's V.League.

Appearance[]

Washio is tall and has an overall intimidating appearance with pushed-back dark hair, thin eyebrows, and a straight nose.

Post-timeskip, Washio's appearance has changed very little, but he now appears to have the lower half of his head shaved.

Personality[]

Washio is shown to be the strong silent type, only saying what is needed and spouting the occasional nugget of wisdom or encouragement to which his team takes to heart. He is also seen to be fairly considerate as he offers Yachi tea after she ate burned meat and has great confidence in his team's strength.

Background[]

In his third year of high school, Washio was a middle blocker for the Boys' Volleyball Team at Fukurōdani Academy.

Plot[]

Tokyo Expedition Arc[]

Fukurodani s2-e8-1

Washio is mostly seen playing in the practice games during the training camp and can at one time be seen calling out Bokuto when the ace claimed that he hadn't been afraid when Tsukishima tried to block him. After the games, he is seen mingling with others during the barbecue. When Yachi accidentally ate a piece of charred meat, Washio and other players offered her tea and water but she was so terrified by their presence that she was not able to accept their help.

Spring High Preliminary Arc[]

Fukurōdani vs Nekoma[]

In the match against Nekoma, Washio plays as one of the starting middle blockers. Sometime in the beginning of the first set, Washio attentively pays attention to Kenma in order to determine where he will set but is impressed at how perfect his form is. As the ball wound up to the setter and his hitter spikes, Washio is unable to block it.

During the first set still, but near the end this time, Konoha and Washio are big parts of Fukurōdani being able to win against Lev and Kenma's teamwork. After this, Washio seems to agree with Konoha telling the two that they have no sense of working together. Sometime later, Washio would come out victor in a joust against Lev. Although Washio does not say anything, Bokuto taunts the rookie for Washio's easy win. Despite this, Washio is seen being wary of Lev when he is able to spike past Onaga in the next rally.

When Bokuto forgets how to hit cross shots, Washio, like the rest of the team, becomes annoyed at the ace's mood swing. After Bokuto is brought out of his state, the team plays like usual and they eventually win the match.

Fukurōdani vs Itachiyama[]

Washio has a single appearance in the game against Itachiyama Institute when he, Akaashi, and Bokuto attempt to block Sakusa at the end of the match.

Tokyo Nationals Arc[]

Fukurōdani vs. Eiwa[]

Washio and Bokuto s4-e12-1

When Bokuto becomes upset at not being able to play in the main arena, Washio ensures his faith in the team being able to play as normal by voicing he knows they are the stronger team. Shortly later, he is seen confidently blocking an enemy hitter. For the rest of the game, Washio is seen trying to block opposing spikers.

Fukurōdani Academy vs Morikawa High[]

Washio makes a brief appearance when Fukurōdani wins their second game of the tournament. After they return to their hotel, Washio and a few other of his teammates are seen together.

Fukurōdani vs. Mujinazaka[]

When Bokuto announces about him becoming the best of the best, Washio explains that he most likely thought that it would sound cool to say so. Washio plays in the match against Mujinazaka. As a dozen rallies pass by, he is seen getting past Mujinazaka's impressive defense. Another time, he shots past Mami but this results in Mujinazaka winning the point because of Akaashi having touched the net. Despite this error, Washio tells the setter to brush it off. As Anahori is subbed in, Washio high fives the rookie setter. Shortly after, Washio serves harshly, giving Mujinazaka trouble.

During the second set, Usuri gets frustrated at Washio for being so tall. Shortly after, Washio shuts down Kiryū. Seeing this, Mami admits to having thought that Fukurōdani only got their reputation because of Bokuto, but takes back what he said when seeing the entire team's impressive plays. Washio eventually scores from Bishin's rough bump on first touch. He eventually succeeds in blocking Kiryū to win the second set 25-22.

Final Arc[]

Currently, Washio plays for the Eastern Japan Paper Mills (EJP) Raijin, a Division 1 team in Japan's V-League as a middle blocker.[1] He is teammates with Suna and Motoya. He is briefly shown watching the match between the Adlers and Jackals as Bokuto is showing himself to be a regular ace.
