"Team" (Japanese: “チーム” "Chīmu") is the one hundred forty-first chapter of the Haikyū!! series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. It was published in the 8th issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump's 2015 series.
Overview[]
Kyōtani is brought out of the match as his anger starts becoming an issue. Yahaba takes the opportunity to get through to him.
Plot[]
In a flashback, Kyōtani is spotted by players during a night of practice and that he was spotted practicing with a different club the week before. The players are somewhat aware of Kyōtani's reputation of being difficult to work with but are curious as to why he continues to play a sport that involves a team. An older man guesses that there is a reason that Kyōtani continues to stick with volleyball. Another brief flashback in Kyōtani's youth shows him being dragged to a volleyball match by his father and Kyōtani seemingly being inspired by one of the players.
Back in the match between Karasuno and Aoba Johsai, Watari tries to calm Kyōtani but the wing spiker angrily shakes him off. Oikawa has Iwaizumi try to talk to Kyōtani but, before he can, Kyōtani is called to be taken off the court and Kunimi is sent back in. Head Coach Nobuteru Irihata warns Kyōtani that he will not be put back into play until he calms down.
Yahaba right away begins to scold Kyōtani for allowing himself to get riled up by the opponents. Yahaba goes on to the tell Kyōtani how he, someone who only plays how he wants, was still able to make it onto the team as one of the main players, something that Yahaba viewed as being unfair to everyone else on the team. Because Oikawa had brought Kyōtani back onto the team, Yahaba believes that Kyōtani should prove that he can work with the team and be of use before threatening Kyōtani not to ruin the game for the third-years or else he would never forgive him.
After Tanaka spikes Nishinoya's set and puts Karasuno at a two-point lead, Kyōtani is sent back into the game and he remembers a moment when he spoke to Kiyoshi during his night of practicing with another team. He remembers how Kiyoshi was able to tell that, despite being accepted into Aoba Johsai, Kyōtani ran away and this is the reason that he is practicing with different teams. Though Kiyoshi admits that teams can sometimes be a mix of good and bad, it is better to face them head on so they can build trust in each other and be stronger as a unit.
Kyōtani is able to score and is given great praise by his team with Oikawa promising him another set.
