Overview[]
It is New Year's Day. Daichi is on edge due to the incoming Spring Interhigh, but a day of spending time with his teammates and friends helps him calm down.
Plot[]
Daichi wakes up from a bad dream on the first day of the New Year. He has dreamed that he is the only member of the volleyball club and finds his seniors Tashiro and Kurokawa playing basketball.
With only four days left until the Spring Interhigh Tournament, Daichi is growing restless. He decides to head out early to meet up with Sugawara, Asahi, and Shimizu for a shrine visit on New Year's Day. To his surprise, both Sugawara and Asahi arrive early too, and the three wait for Kiyoko together. Once Kiyoko arrives, the third-years pray at the shrine before drawing omikuji for their fortunes. Despite being tense due to the Spring Interhigh, they had a great time teasing Asahi when he draws a "curse" for his fortune. They leave the shrine afterwards, but not before Kiyoko gives them a confidence boost for their incoming games.
Daichi gets a confidence boost talking with Ikejiri.
In the meantime, the other members of Karasuno are all enjoying the day off in their own way. Daichi decides to check on the Karasuno gym after his bad dream made him paranoid. He runs into Hinata, Kageyama, Tanaka, and Nishinoya, who are playing a game of hagoita. After finding out why they are here, Daichi forces them to get out of the cold before they get sick. Later, Daichi ends up meeting Ikejiri while walking around town. They talk about nationals, and Ikejiri eagerly wishes Daichi good luck. Daichi realizes he has been way too nervous and regains his composure before bidding Ikejiri farewell. January 4th soon arrives as Karasuno prepares to make their way to Tokyo.
