"The Greatest Decoy: Part 2" (Japanese:
Overview[]
Hinata has become an apt receiver, and noticeably, an even greater decoy. While previously he acted as decoy for his teammates in offence, he is now a decoy for himself in defense and can lure spikers to hit where he wants them to.
Plot[]
Inunaki receives Hoshiumi's third serve, Atsumu tosses, and Bokuto spikes. Heiwajima keeps the ball in play, and Kageyama tosses to Romero for the last hit. With three blockers up front, Hinata moves back to guard against a block-out or Romero hitting above the block. Romero notices the empty space left open in the front of the court and resorts to a feint; however, Hinata suddenly appears to make the receive. Atsumu follows up with a quick set to Thomas, who scores for the team.
It's Sakusa's turn to serve. He gets a service ace after Hoshiumi fails to kill the momentum of the ball. Sakusa aims his second serve in-between Heiwajima and Romero. Romero saves it, and Ushijima passes to Hoshiumi to spike. Quickly surveying Jackals' formation, Hoshiumi chooses an end-line shot after noticing Hinata moving in to cover a feint. To his surprise, Hinata cleanly receives with an overhand. Atsumu tosses to the left, and Bokuto spikes past the blockers to tie the score at 7-7. After Sakusa drove his third serve into the net, the two teams take a technical timeout.
Having come to a realization, Romero asks his teammates if Hinata is "Ninja Shoyo" but received confused stares in return. Romero is shocked and reveals that his son now wants to play beach volleyball after watching Hinata on TV. Kageyama catches on to the word "ninja" and questions if it's referring to Hinata's receives; meanwhile, Daichi finally catches onto Hinata's stratagem of baiting the spikers into hitting the ball exactly where he wants. By sending obvious signals that he is going to defend in a certain way, Hinata purposely leaves an open spot on the court to lure the spikers into targeting the area. In this manner, Hinata is acting as a decoy for himself.
