Overview[]
New team manager Yachi is finally starting to get the hang of things and being around the players of Karasuno. However, she finds herself at a loss when she is faced with the sudden appearance of Date Tech's core blocker, Aone.
Plot[]
First-time manager Yachi embraces how she has become the newest addition to the Karasuno team as the new manager. Knowing that the team is hoping to make it to Nationals and that some of them are not as intimidating as they appear, Yachi promises to give her best in helping the team. She soon spots someone standing at the gym entrance and attempts to help but quickly becomes fearful when she sees Aone towering over her.
Aone himself finds the situation a little difficult. Having previously seen Yachi with Hinata when they were on their way to confront Yachi's mother, Aone had noticed one of Hinata's belongings fall from his bag and is now trying to return it. But instead of finding Hinata, the famed middle blocker is faced with the anxious new manager.
Recognizing the school name on Aone's shirt, Yachi recalls how Date Tech was the school that was rumored to have given Asahi a difficult time in a past game. Taking in Aone's intimidating appearance, Yachi begins to wonder why he is present at Karasuno.
Seeing that Yachi is apparently frightened by his large stature, Aone attempts to give a friendly bow and explain how he had recently been defeated by Karasuno. Unfortunately, Yachi takes his arrival and explanation as a sign that he possibly wants revenge on those who beat him. Aone again tries to communicate better by asking how Hinata has been as of late. This again leads Yachi to believe that Aone has come to Karasuno for revenge but now specifically wants to destroy Hinata as he is most likely the reason why Date Tech lost.
Yachi pleads for Aone to not harm Hinata and Aone tries to help her see that he has no intention of hurting the Karasuno middle blocker. Right then, Futakuchi and Nametsu appear. Futakuchi sees Yachi's pleading manner before a nervous Aone and quickly figures out that Aone's limited communication skills and frightening appearance has caused Yachi to become nervous and is now trying to stay quiet as a means to not seem as scary. As Futakuchi tries to decide whether or not to insert himself into the situation, Yachi continues to wonder if Aone has possibly already harmed other members of the team.
Realizing that he should do something before things get worse, Aone decides to hand Yachi the bag containing Hinata's shoes. Yachi immediately takes this as a sign that Aone has already gotten to Hinata, and he is no longer living. Futakuchi decides to intervene and explain that Aone was simply returning Hinata's missing shoes and finally get Yachi to understand that Date Tech was not there to harm anyone but does state that Date Tech will beat everyone to get to Nationals.
His choice of words makes Yachi go into another panic when she begins to rant about Date Tech wanting to dominate the world and kidnap Hinata in order to have his athleticism for their own. Suddenly, Hinata appears and sees the commotion going on. Yachi is right away relieved to see that Hinata hasn't been a victim of Date Tech.
However, at seeing Hinata and Aone greet each other with a bow, Yachi thinks that Hinata has possibly already been brainwashed. Futakuchi decides to remove himself and Aone from the situation and leave Yachi for Hinata to take care of. The next day, Yachi recants what happened the previous day to the third-years. While Asahi is sympathetic as he can relate to how she felt, Daichi feels the need to go apologize to Date Tech while Sugawara tries to understand how the whole thing got so out of control.
