"The View from the Top" (Japanese:
Overview[]
Kageyama and Hinata perform their first successful quick strike.
Plot[]
Kageyama tells Hinata to jump as fast and high as he can wherever there aren't any blockers, and Kageyama will get the ball to him. Hinata doesn't have to see the toss to hit it. Hinata shows doubt about the idea, but Kageyama tells him that they are going to try. Kageyama thinks back to Sugawara's words and calms down, gaining full concentration on the game.
Taking everything that is part of the game in, Kageyama then finds the perfect angle and time, and tosses to Hinata who spikes it with full strength. It hits the floor on the other side of the net, shocking everyone not just because of the speed, but the fact that Hinata had his eyes closed. Kageyama tells Hinata that they will try again, but they miss the next time, though Kageyama finds himself smiling due to how fun it is. Hinata then thinks over the feeling of the ball hitting his hand and how much he loves the feeling.
The next play, Hinata runs to one side, tricking Tsukishima and Yamaguchi into blocking on that side, but he then runs to the other side with his eyes closed until he gets to the top where he spikes Kageyama's toss. He looks over to the other side of the net where Daichi's running towards the ball but the captain misses it. Hinata examines his hands before he and Kageyama yell in success.
