"The Volleyball Way" (Japanese: ボールの" (みち) " Bōru no "Michi") is the two hundred fifth chapter of the Haikyū!! series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. It was published in the 24th issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump’s 2016 series.

 Overview Edit

The score is currently tied 24-24 between Nekoma and Nohebi. The game continues and Nekoma needs one more point to win the match. Both teams refuse to drop the ball. To avoid Lev's block, Kuguri spikes to the side and Shibayama receives the ball. Yamamoto spikes the ball against the blocker's hands and it ricochets out of bounds meaning the end of the match. Nekoma has secured a spot to nationals!

Plot Edit

Now understanding the meaning of teamwork and the score tied at 24-24, Lev becomes focused on how he must play while being aware that Yaku is not on the court but Shibayama is instead.

Yoshiya Takachiho aims his serve for Yamamoto but Kai is aware of what they're trying and makes the receive instead. Hiroo keeps an eye on Lev and thus is distracted enough to almost miss Yamamoto's approach. He tries to block the Nekoma ace but fails. Nekoma is once more at match point.

Kenma aims his serve at Kuguri. Kuguri receives and Hiroo tries to spike but Lev is able to get a one-touch. Fukunaga makes the receive. Hiroo tries a direct spike but Fukunaga makes the receive again.

Suguru digs Lev's spike and Kuguri gets the last hit. Kai and Lev go to block. As Kuguri prepares to spike, he suddenly becomes overwhelmed when Lev emits a presence frightening enough that Kuguri purposely avoids his block and sends the ball for the only open path that leads right to Shibayama.

Shibayama makes the receive. Kenma gives Yamamoto the final hit. Yamamoto ricochets the ball off the block and the ball heads toward the crowd. Suguru gives chase but is unable to reach the ball in time as it lands and the game ends. With that final point, Nekoma has won and will be the third representative for Tokyo.

As the team celebrates their victory, Lev and Shibayama excitedly realize that they were in sync for the last play in which Lev would purposely use his block to direct Kuguri's spike straight to Shibayama.

Remembering how Kuroo described the feeling of teamwork finally clicking together would be the greatest experience, Lev and Shibayama celebrate their play with a high-five.
