Haikyū!! Wiki

Tokyo Skytree (Japanese: 東京スカイツリー Tōkyō Sukaitsurī) is located in Sumida Ward, Tokyo. It is the subject of a recurring joke, where members of the Karasuno team mistake a cell tower for the Skytree. The actual Skytree finally appears in chapter 230.

In Haikyū!![]

The Tokyo Skytree is first mentioned in the chapter Let's Go to Tokyo!! For Real!!, when Tanaka and Nishinoya mistake a "regular cell phone tower" for the Skytree. In the chapter Omnivores, Hinata asks Kenma about the Skytree, before mistaking a cell tower for the Tokyo Tower instead.

The Skytree finally makes its appearance in the chapter The Night Before, when the Karasuno team spot it as they arrive in Tokyo for the Spring Interhigh.

In real life[]

The Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting and observation tower located in Sumida Ward, Tokyo. It is the tallest free-standing tower in the world and the second tallest structure[1], after the Burj Khalifa[2]. It was built to replace Tokyo Tower, as the switch from terrestrial to digital broadcasting meant a taller tower was needed.
