Haikyū!! Wiki

"Types of Strength" (Japanese: (つよ) さのかたち Tsuyosa no Katachi) is the one hundred forty-second chapter of the Haikyū!! series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. It was published in the 9th issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump's 2015 series.

Overview[]

When Kyōtani finally connects with his team, Aoba Johsai starts to become more troublesome to Karasuno until Hinata and Kageyama discover a new attack.

Plot[]

As Kyōtani finally connects with the team, Sugawara voices his curiosity of what he would do if Kyōtani was on their team and admits that Oikawa is a terrifying person.

Kyōtani serves next. Tanaka makes the receive and Hinata is able to spike past Matsukawa but Watari is able to dig the spike. A counterattack is carried out that brings the score 12-12.

Through several plays, Shimada sees that the Aoba Johsai players are continuing their plan of narrowing Hinata's options of where he can spike. Asahi is able to do a direct spike that Watari cannot save and put Karasuno back in the lead.

When the score is tied 15-15, Oikawa is up to serve. Like before, Daichi is able to receive the serve but the ball goes back to Aoba Johsai's side. Getting ready to attack, Kindaichi remembers how Oikawa asked him if he had specific set requests and how they could improve his broad attack. With Kindaichi's broad attack wider by one ball length, the first-year spikes past Tanaka and scores.

Nishinoya receives Oikawa's serve but it goes over the net. Kindaichi and Tsukishima joust with Tsukishima being the victor. Hinata goes into the game and admits to Kageyama that Oikawa is an amazing player but still believes that Kageyama can surpass him because he has him as a partner. Despite this, Kageyama points out that Hinata's spikes have mostly been received, annoying Hinata.

When Tanaka gets a one-touch on Kyōtani's spike, Hinata charges toward the net while calling for the ball and jumping diagonally. Though he was able to shake off the blockers, Hinata panics when he sees that he jumped too far and is now too close to the net. Kageyama sets the ball nearly directly over the net while calling for Hinata to spike the ball straight down. With this, the two have managed to score as well as discover a new attack.
