My Favourite Parts From Haikyuu!! Opinions and More (Anime & Manga)

SPOILERS TO NON-MANGA READERS!!!

So, I wanted to share my favourite manga and anime parts, as well as other moments: funniest, saddest and basically anything from Haikyuu!! and also explain why I have these opinions for each part/moment.

I made a separate one for the music in Haikyuu!! in this blog here.

  • I'll put all of them in order from Chapter 1-402 / Season 1-4
  • The English from both the anime and the manga will be based on Crunchyroll and VIZ
  • The timestamps will be a few seconds before the actual part

S2 E1: Let’s Go To Tokyo[]

The start to my favourite Season :)

  • I still find it really funny when Kenma (6:27) & (7:49) and Yaku (8:00) have a feeling/shiver when Karasuno talks about them!
  • (11:33) When Takeda-sensei seems like he'll die due to how bad the quadrates grades are!
  • (12:40) When Hinata and Kageyama start to run too far and then end up meeting Ushijima “JAPAN” was funny.
  • (15:38) Then, when the duo start to follow Ushijima to Shiratorizawa, Hinata’s so cute and energetic!
  • (17:03) The duo and Ushijima’s confrontation was deep and powerful. Then when Hinata ‘stole’ the ball away from Ushijima, that was a really good scene, “I’m Hinata Shoyo, from the concrete.” Also, that animation of the eagle and crow, and then with their respective backgrounds was nice.
  • (19:36 - 21:55) I always remember this part when I hear the whole OST of Above. When Karasuno’s in the gym and hear that if they fail any of their exams, they won’t be able to go to the games. I ESPECIALLY LOVE IT WHEN THE MUSIC JUST COMES TO A WHOLE STOP!!! I ALWAYS LAUGH AT THIS NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I WATCH THIS SCENE.

VS Failing Grades (OVA)[]

Out of all of the OVAs that I’ve seen, VS failing grades has to be the best!

After Hinata and Kageyama show the other first years their test papers, they go to see the Vice-Principal to get out of the supplementary lessons.

  • Now from the subs that were used, I think that some of the words that the duo said had some double meanings in Japanese, so when they said to "shift/delay" the supplementary exams, the Vice-Principal was thinking about his wig, making the situation more complicated.
  • Also to top it all of, when the duo started to beg the Vice-Principal, and Daichi and another student were there, the Vice-Principal slips and yet again, his wig falls off.
  • Now the most hilarious part for me is how 'Losers' was playing and just how dramatic the wig goes flying in the air. It just flies in slow motion, with the other student just watching it. Also just the scene with the lighting and everything, it just highlights the moment more. Then it ends with the wig landing on Daichi's head for the 2nd time 😂 This part will just stay with me how the wig fleas off twice!

Now one of the reasons why I really like Tanaka is his persistence to ask Saeko to take Hinata and Kageyama to Tokyo.

  • One, obviously Hinata and Kageyama wouldn’t have gone to the training camp and be able to improve.
  • Second, if Tanaka didn't ask Saeko to come, then we wouldn't have had the most supportive sister in the whole series helping out Karasuno and her brother. Also, we wouldn't have had the Taiko drums and support system of Karasuno to help during the Inarizaki match! So it’s really good that got her to help. He almost bowed his head toward her.

This last part was really good. When the duo passed their tests.

  • At the start, they had to get at least 90 marks due to the Vice-Principal's incident. But I’m glad that Ms Ono let them go when Hinata got 89 and Kageyama got 84. But that already is really good.

S2 E9: Vs Umbrella[]

This episode is really nice. I love the events that happen in it.

  • (8:02) The height difference between the players for cats vs owls is funny.
  • The 3-on-3 practise matches was really nice. Bokuto’s straight shot. Bokuto teaches Hinata the feint. Hinata goes against the umbrella. They’re all nice plays. Also the bonding of Hinata and Bokuto, I love them so much!
  • (13:55) Also, I love Bokuto and Akaashi’s interactions, they’re cute. “AKAASHI, you’re supposed to say that HASN’T happened to me lately!!!”
  • (17:55) Lev mentioning that Yaku called Hinata "Chibi-chan", yet Yaku isn’t that much taller than Hinata.
  • (18:37) Who doesn’t love the classic “BAR-BE-CUE” and then “MEAT IS GOD! Hallelujah Hallelujah!!" I love that so much, I always smile after that and have to sing with it as well.
  • (18:52) For some reason, when Bokuto asks Akasshi what team they’re playing next and when Komi, Kanoha and Sarukui respond with a sigh when they say "Karasuno", I always have to say that conversation in Japanese: “Akaashi, who do play next? Karasuno. Karasuno!?!? Nani?"

S2 E10: Gears[]

The practice set between Karasuno and Fukurodani is really amazing. All of Karasuno’s development has a time to shine, even if they’re not all perfected yet! Even with Fukurodani, I love them! I mean, I’ll start from the beginning of the episode.

  • (4:30) When Bokuto does his sharp cut shot, I can’t help but do the same motion. Also, Bokuto’s reaction is so cute, I always smile so much at him when he says that it was a fluke to Akaashi. To add to that, “A completely unknown playmaker” is played, the perfect OST for the moment.
  • (5:32) When Hinata does a feint, the flashback to Gym 3 and also everyone’s reactions are so funny. I especially love it when Bokuto gets shocked by it, only to realise that HE was the one who taught Hinata the feint. Also when Bokuto says “damn, Chibi-chan” I love that!
  • (7:37) After Kageyama does the setter dump, seeing it from his view is really good. Also, “Back in action” plays. Again, that OST really fits with the scene. I even explained the elements of how and why that OST is so good here on this blog. Seeing the perspective and build-up to the new freak-quick just makes the moment more powerful and amazing. When he questions himself if he should do it, hearing Hinata’s voice is the sign that makes Kageyama toss to Hinata. Then the events, pausing and the flow of the toss when it stops in front of Hinata is legendary! Also, with the silence and shocked reactions is good. I especially love the aftermath of the quick: everyone’s reactions are happy, including Hinata’s. Who doesn’t love Hinata when he compliments Kageyama!!! Every time I watch/hear his voice, I HAVE TO SMILE because I love Hinata. (Ayumu Murase did SUCH A GREAT JOB PLAYING HINATA!!!) Also, Yachi’s reaction is cute, especially when a flashback is shown to Hinata and Kageyama’s fight, to now, shows the development the two have gone through. When they had the fight, I definitely shed a tear or felt sad. I put the explanation further down in this blog. This has to be the one of the best moments in the whole of Haikyuu for me!
  • (12:17) I find Kenma and Kuroo’s little discussion cute, when Kenma says he can’t be on the same team as Hinata and when Kuroo teases him and when they 'argue' whither or not Kenma makes an excited face when he sees Hinata play.
  • (14:48) Now to the rest of Karasuno: Nishinoya and Asahi’s set and spike (though the ball went out) and the synchronised attack! They showed again how far Karasuno has gone!
  • (20:05) Now finally, when Akaashi thinks about the 3 possibilities/outcomes of Bokuto in 0.5 seconds, I love that part! Just shows their bond! But sadly, Bokuto still misses after 2 sets. “AKAASHI, DON’T SEND THE BALL TO ME ANYMORE” (Bokuto’s emo mode.)
  • I can just listen to this whole episode. Literally, I don't need to watch the episode in order for me to understand and enjoy the episode. I just love hearing Hinata and Bokuto's VAs. I think I can focus more on the audio when I'm listening instead of watching it, so I just love their VAs. Also I’ve memorised most of the characters' lines in this episode haha!

S4 E4: Take It Easy[]

I love seeing Hinata's development as well as the National Youth Training Camp!

  • (:) I really like seeing the events in the National Youth Training Camp:
    • Seeing Atsumu, Sakusa, Komori and Hoshiumi
    • Seeing the top level of volleyball from everyone
    • (:) I find Hoshiumi's "THEN BE MORE SCARED OF ME!!! YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING AT ME LIKE 'umm' EVER SINCE YOU GOT HERE!..." part really funny!
  • The Mock Youth Training Camp for 1st-years in Miyagi:
    • (:) When they start the 2-on-2, I always say "Kuso! Kunimi Kuso!" Also it's cute when Kunimi sticks his tongue out!
    • I like the bond and conversation between Hinata and Hyakuzawa
    • (:) I love the 'Take it easy' part so much! It's so simple just so powerful and effective in volleyball. This also links to later in the series during the Inarizaki match! I really love that simple, high toss! I don't know how to describe it, but it's just beautiful!

S4 E13: The Second Day[]

I have a lot of reasons as to why I love this episode! Also it’s one of the episodes that I’ve mainly memorised, the plot and the Japanese*, so I can just listen and enjoy the episode!

(0:00) Kanoka and her teammate walk back to their hotel and a flashback to when Kanoka and Tanaka were younger is shown.

  • I love the start when it shows Tanaka defending Kanoka when she's being bullied for being tall.
  • Tanaka's "ORA ORA ORA ORA..." is kind of funny and cute! I love younger Tanaka!!!
  • I find it funny when Kanoka's teammate makes Kanoka blush!

(1:16) Tanaka thinking about "having a chance".

  • Again, it’s really funny when he just stands there and then he thinks "I’ve just been born..." Then Kinoshita blames Ennoshita and he just brushes it off!!!

(6:16) Hinata and Kageyama's confidence it funny. Then Suga has to react to them!!!

(7:27) Hinata almost drowns in the bath.

(7:57) Ennoshita saying "we need to make sure no one gets hurt" YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID THAT EARLIER!!! HINATA HAS A FEVER AND THAT DAY WAS PROBABLY THE START 😭

(8:48) Kanoka about to say something, then Tanaka over thinks and becomes nervous. Then a "city boy" appears and Tanaka gets the wrong idea.

  • First of all, this sequence of events it funny! Tanaka is so nervous, then he says "shitty boy" after seeing Kanoka's cousin and runs off.
  • But second, it's kind of sad that Kanoka was about to confess, but then her cousin comes and also Tanaka runs away saying that his heart is set on someone else... (Kiyoko-san!!!)

(11:49) KITA-SAN MAKING HIS FIRST PROPER APPEARANCE!!! I love him so much!!!

(12:21) Hinata telling Yamaguchi to do peace signs then getting scolded at by Tsukishima.

  • Hinata is so cute and I have to join in when he says "peace" ✌️

(13:16 - 16:49) This is the part in the episode that I’ve replayed so many times, hence I’ve memorised the lines and what's happened as well!!! It’s such a great part in the episode and anime! Also, before Season 4's OSTs were released, I instantly fell in love with the OST played here (Enhancements, 13:58 - 16:00) and so I played this part mainly just so I could listen to the OST 😅

  • (13:16) When Tanaka and Kanoka talk again and Tanaka understands that’s his "misunderstanding was a misunderstanding"!
  • (14:15) Hinata and Kageyama practising. Then when Hinata remembers Hoshiumi, he gets distracted and gets hit in the face by the ball!
  • (14:30) Kageyama, Atsumu and Hinata!
    • Their 'conversation' is funny. Kageyama is just calm and unfazed at what Atsumu is saying.
    • Hinata on the other hand is getting insulted when Atsumu says he hates playing people who such, and then stares at Hinata. I mean, Atsumu will be eating his words... (*cough... sets to him in the timeskip and are both on the same team: MSBY BJ)
    • But then Kageyama just defending Hinata so calmly when he says that Hinata doesn't suck, so it'll be fine. Then the thumbs up from Hinata 👍
  • (15:16) Karasuno changing into their orange dominant jerseys.
    • I really like it when they have their different jerseys. Orange or black, they fit the team well!
    • Nishinoya still being the 'star' even in the alternated jerseys.
    • Also how they make fun of each other: orange not being Kageyama's colour, Hinata looking like an tangerine 🍊, Tsukishima saying Hinata's annoying and that Tsukishima is the last person who should be saying that, it reminds me of the practise match they had after their loss against Aobajohsai. They acted like a "flock of birds" which is true, but I love how they interact and it’s funny. This builds on why I love the the analogy of crows for Karasuno.

(16:49) Inarizaki's cheer 1 and Inarizaki coming onto the court.

  • "Atsumu... Aran... Osamu... Miya Senpaiiiiiiiii!!!" This is just iconic for me when I hear this cheer.
  • Also when Karasuno is about to go, Daichi has to really shout over Inarizaki's cheer. It's even funnier at the end of Chapter 248, when Daichi physically pulls down the sound effects and Hinata notices it!!!

(19:14) Atsumu just silences the band, two fans shout, Atsumu calls them "squealing pigs", he misses the serve, shouts then gets called lame by Osamu!

(21:25) HINATA FORGETS TO SPIKE AFTER BEING OVERWHELMED FROM HOW HIGH HIS JUMP WAS!!!

S4 E14: Rhythm[]

Well this is the first episode of Haikyuu: To The Top, Cours 2, ever since April, so I guess I am a little bias! Also, it was postponed from July to October, so it was a long wait and I was really excited for it to come out. But even though I’ve read the manga, it's just so different. There's just a different feel to it. Also, I had my 'bets/predictions' of what might be shown in the episode and I got them right!

  • New OP and ED, great!
  • (:) It’s great to see that the duo finally did their quick attack.
  • (:) SAEKO-NESSAN AND THE KARASUNO TAIKO DRUMS SQUAD (this is was one of my predictions) I’ve been waiting for Saeko to make an appearance in the match. Her role is so important and I just love the support she gives, as well as the passion and also her revenge from the Shiratorizawa match. Also, it sounds really nice. Can't wait for the OST to be released.
  • (:) Saeko's "GOMEN!!!" is so cute and really shows her personality. Her VA did such a good job!!!
  • (:) THE MIYA TWINS DO THE FREAK QUICK! (this is my other prediction) After seeing it in the PV, I was so excited to see it properly! Also, it never fails to amaze me when I saw it! Also, the OST played afterwards, it really gives Inarizaki vibes!
  • What a great way to come back to the Haikyuu anime!

S4 E20: Leader[]

I really like the first part and any parts that Kita appears in.

  • I just love seeing my favourite chapters get adapted, and also the 'anime to chapter' adaptation was really good. They didn’t miss any key parts!
  • (:) I’m going to sound bias but I really enjoyed seeing the first part. Although during the flashback to when Kita was in middle school was a little sad, afterwards to when he was a third year was very lifting. Also, new OST!!!
  • I also wrote some more here.

S4 E22: Pitons[]

This episode has to be ONE OF THE BEST one out of the whole S4 Cours 2 (and maybe in the whole anime series)

  • The explanation of Inarizaki's concept/banner "Who needs memories" is really good and it does make sense! Even in the manga, Chapter 280 it makes sense. Though, I don’t fully agree with it :) (same with Kita's mentality)
  • (7:30) 'The Miya Twins' minus tempo reverse' That was really good!
  • (10:56) When Tanaka tells Kageyama something... Links every nicely to the next episode!
  • (11:46) Atsumu's 'fake setter dump set'. Ugh, it’s frustratingly amazing (haha) how Atsumu was able to do that! I find it quite clever.
  • (13:16 - 18:35) A very intense rally OMG!!!
    • (13:16 - 14:32)
      • Tsukishima's on-point blocking is great!
      • Atsumu calling to Osamu and making the first touch. Then Osamu going for spike on the 2nd touch. THEN he turns it around into a mid-air spike to Aran! The sequence is so good! Also, I love how the camera's perspective of the ball to Aran is. It's not just straight following the ball, but it has this slowing down/speeding up effect and it really highlights the ball and the moment. Also, Atsumu's laugh when he sees the set is really cute!
      • OST time! The music really brings the hype to this moment. The strings and the saxophones as well really bring out this rally!
    • (14:32 - 14:50) HINATA'S RECEIVE!!!
      • When Hinata makes contact with the ball and it goes up, JUST THAT, and I already start to tear up. This really doesn’t need any words or music, just the visuals of that receive. It’s just so simply perfect! Also I was looking at the manga panels for this moment and it’s just too good!
      • Everyone's reaction to the receive and the silence just makes the moments linger more!
    • (15:01 - 15:43)
      • Hibarida's analogy of the moment as a piton (same as the chapter) again builds on this moments (and same in the manga, Chapter 281) It’s such a great and powerful analogy!
      • Also the OST used, it really brought the scene of a mountain and that hope/piton!
    • (15:45 - 15:51)
      • Kageyama: "To think the day would come when I would finally say this to you...nice receive"
      • 😭😭😭
      • KAGEYAMA FINALLY TELLS HINATA "NICE RECEIVE" This part made me from tearing up, to actually having water down my eyes! It hits SO HARD! If you remember from the VERY start of the series, it just shows how much Hinata has grown and gone through. Also, acceptance from Kageyama... Like the only person that hasn’t told Hinata that, that’s such a massive achievement and moving point in the episode.
    • (15:56 - 16:25)
      • The flashbacks to later episodes/challenges/teaching from the series.
      • This AGAIN concretes the growth of Hinata. I even watched S4 E2 just to see all of the flashbacks from when Hinata was 'lost' but it’s really good!
    • HAHA I’m going into this much detail over one receive, but this receive is more than a normal one. There's just so much behind it, anime and manga wise!
  • (16:41) Hinata reading the set/situation is proof of his growth!
  • (17:35) Kageyama 😂 "It’s perfect... No wait, I’m not going to say it! I’m not going to say it yet!"
  • (18:33) Kenma chuckling!!!
  • (17:50) The plays/saves/receives during this part is so good and intense.
    • Hinata and Akagi's saves were really good!
    • Everyone's persistence!
    • BUT that last touch from Atsumu and the ball hitting the net... OMG the hearts of Karasuno just shattered then!
    • I actually forgot that that was just one rally and it contained SO MANY AMAZING PLAYS!
  • (18:35) THE DISPARITY OF KARASUNO 😭 During this whole time, I was just thinking "where's Hinata? where's Hinata?" Literally!!!
  • (20:00)
    • This part is legit one of the reasons why Hinata is a ball of sunshine and happiness. Just how Suga explains Hinata, no matter how tired or beat he is, he still manages to carry on with a smile, show his happiness and power through!
    • WHEN HINATA SMILES AND LAUGHS, HOW CAN ANYONE NOT LAUGH, SMILE AND FEEL SO MUCH FOR HINATA!!! I started to shed a tear of 'happiness after hearing/seeing Hinata smile!
    • Again, Murase-san is the perfect VA for Hinata!
    • (20:51)
      • Not only does he cheer himself up, he shares it to everyone! Hence we have the 'hunger analogy' of Osamu.
      • This analogy is so perfect as well. It fits so well with the situation. Same in the manga, Chapter 282
      • The OST playing is so enlightening with the electric guitar and the strings!
  • The rallies and plays during this whole episode/match was SO GOOD! It really kept me on the edge of my seat while I was watch ing it!
  • I’ve already watched this episode 6 times now in 3 days!!! :)

S4 E24: Monster's Ball[]

So Episode 22 was amazing, but THIS ONE HAS TO BE THE BEST OUT OF THE WHOLE SERIES!!! The irony of my quote: Me: "This episode has to be THE BEST one out of the whole S4 Cours 2 (and 'maybe' in the whole anime series)" I bet when Nekoma's match gets adapted this part of the blog will be updated regularly, like during this match. See this is why Inarizaki vs Karasuno is my 2nd favourite match!!! Now on with the episode:

  • (2:42) When Kageyama tells Hinata to complain because Kageyama didn’t set the ball to him properly. (I know that this was shown in the previous episode, but it would be easier for this to be mentioned in this episode.)
    • When Hinata smiles widely and tells Kageyama "give me the next one too" it's so cute and makes me want to smile as well!
    • But also, later on, that wasn’t just Hinata being considerate, he expects it!
  • Kita's 'speech' when he talks about the 'monsters' ball' and how he says that they're lucky to be playing with/against them. Also Kita smiles SO much during this. This links to further on, when one of them mention how Kita was smiling loads during the match.
  • (5:08) Inarizaki has match point and everyone's becoming anxious. Thanks to Keishin reminding them that "they aren’t looking for a miracle" it reminds them about being 'on the edge of a precipice' and they relax.
    • I really love this metaphor and this feeling of "being on the edge of a precipice" It's really powerful and really brings out that feeling when something is really scary, or in this case, the end of a match or one point away from a loss. Also links back to S3, when Shiratorizawa has match point and Karasuno feel like they're on the edge.
    • Also chapter/manga wise, it’s portrayed really nicely (in this match and the Shiratorizawa one as well)
  • (6:16) / Chapter 287: Not so much the anime, but when Hinata goes to hit the ball, and pushes Kageyama to set it to him, I kept remembering, from the manga, that Kageyama said "I REFUSE TO LET HIM OUTDO ME"
    • I remember reading this and imagining the way he would say this, straining himself but also the thought that he really doesn’t want to lose against Hinata.
  • (7:26) Atsumu and Osamu, Miya Twins banter!!!
  • (7:40) Kageyama tells Hinata (smugly) "I win!" and "Nice Kill"
    • It’s really funny when Kageyama says this to Hinata.
    • Also when he said "I win" it reminded me of Hoshiumi! First when Hoshiumi asks hint about his running vertical and he says "I win" excitingly. And second, during the final arc.
  • I really like it when Tsukishima acknowledges Hinata's skills at receiving, hence he directed Suna's spike towards him! He's grown so much!!!
  • (8:51) "SHOYO-SAN" by Shimada and Takinoue!
    • This is really funny. The honorific made me laugh! The respect to Hinata despite them being older shows that the receive it so powerful.
  • (10:24) Kageyama setting to Asahi and Date Tech watching
    • Koganegawa saying how beautiful Kageyama's set is :)
    • Asahi holing his form before he spikes! It’s really good! Also how Aone and Fukakuchi notice it.
  • (12:42) Atsumu talking about how it's a luxury to be a setter
    • "Best high school setter my ass" how Osamu is thinking haha.
    • Before Atsumu sets, he thinks about how he gets to choose who to set the ball to and how great it feels when Osamu really wants to spike the ball. This links to the timeskip and how Kageyama was thinking how he has so many options and how Akaashi says "he's spoiled for choices"
    • For some reason, when Atsumu says it, it sounds 'genuine', like when he said "because I’m a setter" I don’t know!
  • (14:50) KAGEYAMA'S SETTER DUMP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • OMG when I watched the episode for the first time, I was actually shocked at this. I forgot about the dump and so it really hit me the first time! It’s so good and so unexpected!!!
  • (15:30 - 21:22) The last rally of the match!
    • (15:37) Tsukishima looking at Inarizaki's banner before serving.
      • He even smirks as well. Also it shows the meaning of that banner not just for Inarizaki but for others as well "We don’t need memories" you have to try new things and take risks.
    • (15:54 - 17:20) When everyone starts to speed up.
      • I love how the screen blackens on the outside. It really creates that sense of how the players' vision is being narrowed. It also allows the people watching to experience how the players see things from their point of view.
      • Coach Ukai's explanation of what's happening is really good.
      • OST yet again is so fitting with the sense. It’s fast paced and really feels like it could be the last rally.
      • OST sounds similar to 'Greetings' Really nice.
    • (17:20 - 17:35) Hinata's receive
      • "GOT IT!" I love this so much! How they presented it is so good. The screen was almost black, reflecting the enclosure and how the players' vision is becoming narrow. Then when Hinata says this, the screen becomes light, shining away the blackness and allowing everyone to see clearly again.
      • Also Hinata really is a ball of sunshine. Literally! Also that calm smile when he looks up, in the PV in the last episode, when I saw this, I instantly knew that this part would show!
    • (17:40)
      • Anabara remembering the time when Hyakuzawa did that high toss and how a high pass can allow your team to gain time and to calm down as well. I love his explanation.
      • Also when everyone on Karasuno takes a deep breath and relax. It really allows that time for everyone to calm down and think.
      • Also the same OST that was played when Hinata received Aran's spike is played. Again highlighting the moments of Hinata!!!
    • (18:12 - 18:50) Dadchi and Sugamama. I don’t care about their names because IT IS TRUE, ESPECIALLY SUGA!!!
      • How he remembers Hinata's development. All of the flashbacks to when Hinata was at the start of the series to now, shows how much Hinata has developed.
      • It was also Suga that's been by Hinata's side other than Kageyama. Senpai looking over his kouhai and his development. Suga has the right to 'cry' though it made me shed a tear then I saw this, even in the manga!

      • After Tanaka's spike is blocked, Kageyama, Tsukishima and Daichi keep the ball in play. It's so close, like the ball was almost about to drop if Tsukishima didn’t gain that small amount of time before Daichi gets the last touch and sends it over.
    • (20:04 - 20:45) Inarizaki's turn to attack and the twins doing the minus tempo back attack.
      • This whole part is so good. First it starts with Osamu making his approach for the ball. Also that same filter is used from the start, when the twins did it the first time.
      • Also, how they 'stamped' the "Twins' Quick... Minus Tempo... Back" It was similar to the 2nd PV, when they 'stamped' the "This position. This timing. This angle. Perfecto" and it really shows that they will do it.
      • That repetition of events and words can have a lot of meanings to them. One is that they started with that attack and now they’re finishing with it (similar to Karasuno's match against Aobajohsai in their first official match)
      • Then their banner. How it’s shown just before Osamu spikes. Again highlights their moto and not needing any memories during volleyball.
    • (20:45) THE BLOCK OF HINATA AND KAGEYAMA!!!
      • It’s so good. Also in the manga, that double spread of this powerful block. They were the ones that made it, and now they’re the ones stopping their own attack :)
      • Then the ball ricochets back onto Inarizaki's side
    • (21:02) Seeing the ball hit the floor through the reflection on Kita's eyes
      • ... Wow. When I first saw this, I did shed a tear. Like seeing it in the eyes of Kita and not directly on the court... Kita being the captain and also the foundation of Inarizaki is a massive highlight as to why we see it through him. Also it can symbolise that he did everything he did right, but they still lost, something like that. But it hit hard seeing it through his eyes. But it is a nice scene!

    • His explanation is really good. Also links to how the duo are the only ones that could’ve stopped the attack at that time. "Speed is a powerful weapon... but it isn’t invincible... these two know it better than anyone else"

  • The Tokyo training arc is just amazing:
    • I love how Nekoma, Fukurodani and Karasuno are all together, talk, train and everything else!!! I just love seeing all of them together.
    • Seeing Karasuno's development never fails to amaze me, no matter how many times I watch it! Just seeing everyone improve on skills and techniques is so beautiful to see!!!
    • I just love watching the training camp. All of the events and the action!!
  • I think that Season 2 is the season that I’ve memorised most of what's happened in each episode. I just watched S2 E1-4 and I just recited so many moments and lines!
  • Season 2, in my opinion, has the most funniest moments 😂
  • Yamaguchi's episode!! (well not 'really' but the episode where he shines the most) Also, how he gets to serve 5 TIMES IN A ROW is so good. I also love Karasuno's bench's cheer: "YAMAGUCHI, ONE MORE!!!" (I sadly don't know to spell the iconic words in Japanese 😔)
  • The match between Karasuno and Seijoh: especially the last rally in E24 I love that so much!!!

Shinsuke Kita[]

The captain of Inarizaki!

  • So, after S4 E19, I decided that Kita is my favourite character, hence I changed my profile picture. Well, he was one of my top out of the characters below, but just after watching the episode, I got super excited for the next episode 'Leader' (which I guessed and was right!) Also, I think Kita is the first and only character that I’m excited to see. So why do I like Kita:
    • He's kind, caring and considerate to others. Like in Chapter 274, he tells Atsumu to go home as he has a cold. Though Atsumu is annoyed at that, he sees a bag full of food and water, as well a note from Kita telling him to get better 🥺
    • He's really good at volleyball and defence. Also, he's the solid foundation of Inarizaki, similar to Daichi.
    • His personality, how he's careful with what he does, how he does things right, his manners and just the way he presents himself is really nice. He's a little bit like me when it comes to this point 😁
    • He's smart. I mean... he is in 3-7, one of the highest classes in the whole series (hence he can say "what's a failing grade?"😳) Also, during the Inarizaki match, how he keeps all of the 2nd years under control and how he analyses the game is really good!
    • He's an interesting character. What I mean by this is that, his concepts; mentality and the way he views things is really mature. I remember the first time he was introduced, I was like "how can he say things like that!!" I also love how mature he is and his thought processes/mentality makes so much sense (though I don’t always agree :)
      • An example of this is this quote in Chapter 274 (well this is sort of his chapter 😁) "I don’t understand why folks need to get nervous. I guess it’s because they feel like they gotta do MORE than what they can. Everybody does stuff like eat, sleep and go to the bathroom, and nobody gets nervous over it. It’s the same for volleyball. You just do the same stuff you’ve done every day in practise. Why get nervous?" At first, I was thinking, "that's easier said than done" and "obviously, you would feel nervous in situations. That's just how your body and brain reacts to things." But after reading it again and understanding his character, although I don’t 'fully' agree with it, I understand the quote! I have exams coming up soon, but after remembering this quote, I don't feel nervous about it. Even though Kita's referring it to volleyball, it can also apply to exams. I’ve had a lot of exam practise with questions and papers, so what difference will it make if the exam is going to be 'proper'. That quote is my motivation as well as my inspiration to do well in my exams, as well as not get too anxious about it, so I made it my wallpaper!!!
    • I like his two-toned black and white hair! It looks good and his character design is really nice!
    • I think a small, yet big reason why I like Kita is because of his name! When I first saw the name 'Kita' I instantly remembered "Mahal kita" which, in Tagalog, means "I love you". Now the meaning of the phrase is totally irrelevant, but what I mean is that, since I’m filipino, the name 'Kita' reminded me of that phrase/word. So maybe it’s a reason why I like Kita, is because the name stands out to me!
    • Not really a moment, but every time I see Kita, I always have to say "KITA!!!"

  • So after watching S4 E22, (yes this is kind of the same situation as how Kita became one of my favourite characters) Hinata has just bursted forward into my favourites!!!

Kōshi Sugawara[]

  • One part that I really like about Suga is his persistence and will to persuade Asahi to come back to the club in S1 E8. Despite what happened in the past, he tried to get bring Asahi.
  • Also later on, then Asahi shouts to Suga to give him the toss, Suga remembers the perfect toss that Asahi likes, showing again his experience and also the bond he has with his teammates.

The most inspirational figure in the whole of Haikyuu in my opinion! I know he's a teacher, but he helps everyone with words even when the team's down, or just words of wisdom to help the team out and everyone.

  • "Is losing really a sign that you’re weak? Or is it meant to be a trail? A test to see if, once you’ve been knocked down, you have the strength to get back up. If you stay on your knees, that really means you are weak." (Chapter 69 & S1 E24)
  • "It looks like we’re the worst of all the teams here… Will you see them simply as opponents? Or are you going to see them all as potential teachers of skills and tricks they possess? Yes you are not the best, but that means you have room to grow. What could be more fun and exciting than that?" (Chapter 81 & S2 E5)

  • I love the mental and physical strength of Hinata, even when he's already really tired. Also, the joy he feels when he gets the set from Kageyama, it’s so moving and beautiful.
  • Also it mirrors the title of the episode. Showing that set from Kageyama is sort of the first step that he has to acknowledging Hinata as a teammate and believing in his skills.
  • OST: 'What it means to connect' A perfect OST for the moment.
  • Also this part links nicely with Chapter 314 that's like part two too this Chapter/Episode. The perfect set is the thing that Hinata has wanted (during Karasuno's match against Nekoma.

S1 E4
(18:22) When Hinata and Kageyama do the quick attack for the first time. "This position. This timing. This angle. Perfect"

  • This never fails to amaze me. The start of the duo, the start to an attack that evolves so much and shows the talent of Kageyama as well with the 'on target' set.
  • This also links into the Karasuno vs Inarizaki's match, when, for the first time, the Miya twins attempted to do the quick attack, where Atsumu also says the words that Kageyama says.

(21:40) Hinata avoids the block and sees 'the view from the top/summit'.

  • I really like the inner monologue of Hinata when he's about to spike the ball. Also, after being blocked by the blockers, he finally sees the view from the summit and it’s really nice that he saw that, with the help of Kageyama and also everyone else as well.

  • The receive of Nishinoya looks so smooth and also it's really a great way to introduce him in.
  • Nishinoya's first entrance is just full of energy and I always smile when I see him.
  • Also this is a mirror event to Chapter 370 when Kageyama serves and Hinata receives it perfectly just like Nishinoya. I always remember that.

Well the whole episode was really nice.

  • I love seeing the flashbacks of Asahi and Nishinoya, to Asahi confidently shouting for the toss from Suga. I love the development of Asahi!!!

(18:04) When Karasuno get their jerseys for the first time!

  • I have to remember this. Also, the most important "Hinata No.10 and Kageyama No.9" It’s just classic and links nicely in Chapter 401 when Hinata and Kageyama are shown to be on the Japan national team and have the same number jerseys. For me, 9 and 10 will always remind me Hinata and Kageyama and this iconic moment.

(22:27) Karasuno and Nekoma's first encounter at the end of the episode.

  • Well at the time I’m writing this, Season 4 just finished and the next in the anime will be Karasuno vs Nekoma's match, so this is the first meeting how the two teams became rivals and also friends with one another!

(21:25) Hinata telling Kenma that the next time they play, Hinata will make Kenma say that "the match was fun".

  • Again, this is the start to the friendship and rivalry between Hinata and Kenma. Also this moment comes up in a lot of flashbacks and memories of the two, manga and anime wise, so it’s really important.

  • The classic "Fly" banner and hyping everyone up (well not so much the first-years, but everyone else!) Also shows the revival of Karasuno and showing that extra push to show that Karasuno will fly.

  • Iconic, nothing more to add...
  • Joking, but seriously, not only is Nishinoya's rolling thunder amazing, it really helped bring the mood up ready for the match against Date Tech.
  • Also, Libero backing up his teammates, so inspiring and reassuring to know that someone has your back!

(20:15) Asahi being able to see the view over the blocks and Hinata being the greatest decoy!

  • it’s great to finally see a spike/point off of Asahi for the first time against Date Tech, seeing that great ray of light opening up the path for the ace.
  • Also seeing Hinata being the greatest decoy, it’s just the start for him but it’s a good moment.

S1 E18
(14:37) Noya's receive, Asahi spiking and opening up the iron wall.

  • One, the foot receive... SO GOOD OMG it never fails to amaze me!
  • Second, the passion and drive Asahi has to make the ball count, not only as the ace but for everyone else. also the perfect toss from Kageyama, great.
  • Third, the iron wall opening up for Asahi. Again, they get their revenge and shows the power as well. Even though Asahi couldn’t smash the ball onto their court, that ball role on the net and then falling onto Date Tech's side... the suspense but so good!

  • Like that scene is so tense. You have all of the attackers read to attack and how Aobajohsai see them as well. YOPu have Hinata, Asahi who might do a pipe, Tanaka and Daichi... and then you just have the out of the blue setter dump! There are so many amazing plays in the beginning of the series and how did I forget all of them 😅

S1 E21
(2:39) The first part is definitely Suga's moments!

  • At the start, when Suga is on the court, and when he starts to hit everyone (except high-ten Nishinoya) I love that part of him. Also when he smiles afterwards, by heart just lights up and I have to smile as well, no matter what
  • When the match resumes, the whole game just changes when Suga is on the court!
  • I have to mention OSTs! The OSTs used is one MAJOR factor to why I love episodes! One of my top 3 favourite OSTs, 'a completely unknown playmaker' plays and I just love it!

S1 E23
(22:00) Kageyama's one-handed toss to Hinata when the ball was about to got to Oikawa and then Hinata spikes, gaining the deuce for the final set.

  • I love the build up and how the flow of this sequence is. Just when the ball was going to go to Aobajohsai's side, Kageyama comes to set, the slow motion on it, then Hinata comes in at the perfect time!
  • Also that kind of metaphor of catching up to Oikawa and Aobajohsai after the point. Also to tie it up to a deuce.

  • It’s just really for the 3rd years to talk like this and just have fun :)

(9:20) The barbecue with everyone!

  • I love seeing the bonding of everyone and all of the moments that happen. Kageyama almost choking and was saved by Akaashi; Nishinoya, Tanaka and Yamamoto trying to protect Shimizu; Yachi being surrounded by all of the tall players while trying to get meat; the managers being together; Kuroo telling the top 3 aces in the nation and just so much more!!!

(9:32) When the duo do their new quick attack to the first time!

  • It's just so quick and so good for them to get it out against Kakugawa!!!

(17:30) Hinata does a wipe out for the first time and for match point.

  • Hinata scores other then the quick attack yay! Also we need to thank Bokuto again haha for teaching Hinata that!

(19:04) "HGYA!!!"

  • Again another funny moment. I love the karma when Nishinoya and Tanaka joke about Hinata saying "hgya" when he received the ball, but then when Ennoshita asks if they’ve done their homework, they end up saying "hgya" as well haha!

S2 E14
(15:32) Hinata and Kenma talking as they clean up. Both wanting to play a game against each other "you know, the kind where if you lose, it’s instantly game over"

  • I love the friendship of Hinata and Kenma, especially the rivalry as well!

(18:04) Karasuno meeting Johzenji outside the stadium.

  • I find this part so funny. The duo getting excited; then when they meet Terushima; he starts waving to Kiyoko; make Tanaka and Nishinoya on an angry rampage, only to freeze in mid air when they see Hana!!!

(19:35) Hinata and the bathroom... meeting Oikawa, Iwaizumi, Ushijima and Aone.

  • Another hilarious moment, when Hinata gets surrounded by so many tall and intimidating opponents.
  • But the best part has to be that little greeting between Aone and Hinata. Again a lovely little respect and friendship.

S2 E15
(5:13) Hinata, Tanaka and Nishinoya's play.

  • First, the spider man jump / save of Hinata was really good. Then the connection of Tanaka and Nishinoya were amazing. I loved how Suga also compared the three like Johzenji after that.

(17:00) Daichi saving the ball and then Terushima sees the former captain in him when Daichi stands in front of Johzenji's banner.

  • One of my favourite moments of Daichi. Also it reminds me again that he's the sturdy foundation of Karasuno and can be over looked and not given that much attention. This definitely links and shows in the Wakutani Minami match.

S2 E18
(5:24) Hinata the "bench mover"!

  • Definitely a nice flow for Hinata. All of the flying receives during the Tokyo training camp payed of him, and then the combat when he receives and scores a point!

(16:36) The last rally between Karasuno and Wakutani.

  • Hinata hesitates before making an approach, but when him and Kageyama don't sync up, Hinata saves it with his left hand. Then Ennoshita reminds him not to hesitate and that he should have a good approach first. This shows that Ennoshita is worthy to be the next captain!
  • (17:19) Then when Hinata goes to block Takeru, Hinata sees he will go for a blockout but moves his arms. This is key for later on, including to Tsukishima, the 1st years training camp and Chapter 357.

S1 E19
(5:55) Before Oikawa spikes, Kogenagawa rushes to block as well, shutting out Oikawa.

  • It was definitely a shocking thing to happen! Also it was a little funny when Futakuchi was "pushed" on accident from the block.

(13:14) Iwaizumi smashed through the iron wall.

  • I find this great imagery, even though Iwaizumi spikes in between Koganegawa's arms as he does a "whoopy block" according to Kuroo!

(19:17) Koganegawa states that he'll get stronger, so no matter how big or strong the opponents are, he'll be able to block them. But Aone says that not all of the hardest opponents are big and strong. After saying that, he walks past Hinata.

  • I really like this part. I love the fact that Aone said not everyone who is big and strong will be hard to stop.
  • Also I love the respect and that rivalry between Aone and Hinata, even though it wasn’t really an interaction. But it speaks a lot.

(21:16) Karasuno getting ready to play against Aobajohsai.

  • A powerful yet a nerve-racking moment for Karasuno, but they go in strong to start the match.

S2 E20
(8:26) Before Oikawa serves, Iwaizumi, Hanamaki and Matsukawa shout out their bets and Oikawa questions if they want him to get it in or miss.

  • It's hilarious! 3rd years are really underrated , but I love the banter that Aobajohsai's 3rd years have!

(12:10) Hinata getting blocked at first, Tsukishima saving the ball, Kageyama kicking Hinata's ass to calm him down (though both of them need to haha) and when Hinata attacks again, he smashes through what happened last time.

  • Definitely redemption for Hinata with all his training and how much he's improved. But it really shows a new start I guess, even though Karasuno has evolved overall!

(21:40) Mad-dog charging to spike the ball, despite it being Kindaichi's ball and he even knocks him over!

  • A very dynamic introduction to Kyōtani haha

  • A nice change and also the aggravation of Tanaka towards Kyōtani is finally shown, unintentionally obviously as that’s just Tanaka's personality!

(0:00) Kageyama sets the ball to Hinata right above the net, then Hinata hits it downwards.

  • It’s a nice attack from the duo!

(0:49) Oikawa explaining that Kageyama isn’t a genius just from his skills, but mostly his stupidity. also, when before no one could keep up with him, there's another idiot that’s on the same level, Hinata!

  • To be honest that is kind of true. Kageyama doesn't make a lot of reckless plays, but luckily Hinata is there!

(16:35) Oikawa having a flashback to his inspiration, Jose Blanco, who is revealed in Chapter 373 and quoting him!

  • It really is a great part in the episode with the quotes from Jose Blanco. He explained that even though Oikawa isn’t a prodigy, he can still continue to work hard as his strength and skills are not at their limit.
  • Also this quote, "Oikawa: "Today might finally be the day to make your true talent bloom, or tomorrow, or next year, or maybe when you’re even 30. But, if you don’t believe that that day will come, it will never."

(18:40 - 21:55) The last rally of Karasuno vs Aobajohsai, the semi-finals.

  • (18:57) Kyōtani spikes the ball and it hits Tanaka's forehead.
  • (19:16) Hanamaki's receive sends the ball out of the court but Oikawa points to Iwaizumi and sets it to him. He also thinks "Talent is something you make bloom. Instinct is something you polish."
  • (20:00) Tanaka saves the ball after Daichi receives it. Then Asahi spikes the ball from the back line, like Terushima.
  • (20:21) Watari receives the ball but it hits the net. The slow-motion then Kyōtani saves it.
  • (20:36) Kageyama spikes the ball but Kindaichi blocks it, making the ball hit Suga in on the forehead.
  • (20:42) Hinata's run-up and then he shouts for the ball. But then Aobajohsai reads the set up, having 3 blockers on Hinata and Oikawa in the back.
  • (21:15) Hinata sees the blockers hand and goes for a wipe-out.
  • (21:26) Although Oikawa tracks the ball, he fails to receive the ball.
  • One of the best rallies in the whole series, even in the manga! It's so intense, and with the music as well with 'direct confrontation' playing. I even did an OST analysis on it on my other blog!

S2 E25

  • Also, Oikawa's "worthless pride" and the intensity of their conversation is really nice.

  • It's so beautiful that happened. They have so much support! Even the cheer as well haha, even though at the start wasn’t in sync.

(16:37) Yachi remembers practising with Hinata and Kageyama before, when they had their fight.

  • It’s nice when past events occur again in the plot and it changes. I really like it when you see the change, from their fight to now, and they can go the new quick attack!
  • Also 'a chemical reaction of encounters' plays, which is a really fitting OST, because if Yachi didn’t watch their practise before, she wouldn’t have been so happy when the duo did their quick attack against Fukurōdani and she's so supportive.

  • Ushijima: "Hinata Shoyo. Kageyama Tobio". Kageyama: "We made it to the finals". Hinata: "We, who grew from concrete, will beat you and go to nationals". Ushijima: "I look forward to it."

  • This is a funny moment and even at the start of this match. Just the imagination of them two is so funny how they act to look 'cool'.

  • I love the irony when Shimada says "look how confident they (Karasuno) look" only to see everyone being nervous, flustered, on the floor and definitely 'looking confident'. It’s really funny!

(17:47) The starting line-ups are announced for both Karasuno and Shiratorizawa.

  • Well it’s nice to see the characters being introduced like this.
  • I especially love it when it’s Tanaka's turn. He hi-ten's Shimizu so gently, then so strongly for Keishin and Takeda!!!
  • Also I love the enthusiasm of Nishinoya when he jumps in the air. It's so cute

S3 E2

  • I love the sub when he goes "HUHHHHHH" Every time, I have to join in!!!

(15:54) Kageyama thinking about all the things that Hinata is bad at, then tosses the ball for a minus tempo back attack.

  • Like obviously that’s not the case anymore. But the reason why I want to remember this is that I saw this thing. When Kageyama says these things, after each list, it shows the BJ vs SA match of Hinata of his blocking, receiving and spiking in the match! It’s really nice and shows the development of Hinata!

(17:28 - 22:41) The last half of the episode.

  • First of all, the events and the gameplay at the end of the set is just full of action and the animation is just well done.
  • (17:30) 'Back in action' and 'Halo around the moon' which are both part of my favourite OSTs list, are played.
  • (18:38) Tsukishima blocking Ushijima!
    • Tsuki's block it 100% one of the best moments in the whole series, season and for Tsuki himself!!! This also goes for the manga chapters as well!! (as I was going through them for the anime/manga diffs)
  • Third, I (think) have memorised that whole part when Shirabu sets the ball low to when Tanaka and Nishinoya shout "Tsukishimaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!" Again, I have to join in with the sub and I’ve memorised (mostly) the Japanese of this part! I just love that episode so much.

S3 E5
(6:17) Ushijima telling Hinata that he's clumsy. Then Hinata tells Kageyama that his and Ushijima are alike, only for Kageyama to take it in skill wise, not personality wise!

  • I mean, it’s true that when it comes down to insulting Hinata haha, but obviously Kageyama would see it skill wise! Being compared to one of the top 3 Aces... it’s Kageyama!

(8:07) Tsukishima and Asahi blocking Ushijima, narrowing Ushijima's view to Nishinoya, total defence again, then "the only one equal to Ushijima... is me (Nishinoya)"

  • Hinata learns from the teachings of the former Coach Ukai to control the ball and his body!

(22:03) Hinata gets fidgety when he saves the ball in front of Kageyama. Then scarily, Kageyama praises Hinata "nice cover" and Hinata gets excited when they gat to play another set!!!

  • So cute and funny!!

S4 E16
TANAKA'S EPISODE!!!

  • I love how the episode was centred around Tanaka. It reminded just how powerful his mental strength it and just more on his personality.
  • (:) "First-sight marriage proposal" incident!!!
  • (:) When Tanaka has his moment of 'depression' but then gets back up with his unbreakable mental strength and then does the 'super-cut shot' that moment was legendary and just so powerful (I feel like 'powerful' is the best word for me to use haha) Also, the OST at the end, even though it had similar parts to 'omnivorous' it was such a completely different OST and really brought out the best of the moment and build up to how Tanaka scores the set point!
  • (:) Then I saw Saeko's face after the shot, I felt like I wanted to shed a tear! It shows that love and how proud she it towards Tanaka!
  • (:) When Tanaka was younger and praised Kanoka, his laugh IS SO CUTE!!! 🥺

S4 E17
Nekoma, Kenma and Yamamoto's past!!! I know I’m talking about the whole episode, but I just really want to explain it. It's not one of my top favourite episodes.

  • It did feel nice to have a different perspective to Karasuno vs Inarizaki's match!
  • I really loved the visuals of this episode, especially the scenery of where Nekoma did their running! It looks such a nice place and I hope it's in real life! Also, the shot of the cherry blossom changing seasons is really pretty, I even changed my profile picture as it's just so beautiful and simple. In addition, Kenma's imagination of the scenery being a video game was nice!
  • I'm really glad that they didn’t rush this episode. They really focused on Chapters 265 and 266.
  • (:) The last two OSTs were really nice. Like I said in my diary blog I've listened to the end about 10 time now as I love the music. Also, the new OST at the end, it really surprised me but in a really good way. Definitely different from the OSTs that I’ve head so far in the anime!

S4 E18
(17:44) When everyone on Nekoma are shown doing their 'ritual' before every match, and when the camera circles around showing everyone. I’m really glad that Crunchyroll made a video of this part!

  • This part is just so perfect!!! Showing everyone 'together' highlights their value, teachings and their banner as well: "connect" It feels so powerful and again emphasises the whole concept of Nekoma. When I first watched the episode, this was all my initial thoughts!
  • Again, OSTs. The OST playing during that moment was quiet, but is powerful and just lingers in the whole scene!
  • Kenma's movement to that perfect set was beautiful!
  • Afterwards, 'Gears' plays and that OST is fitting afterwards, just like during S4 E4
  • I have to point out Fukunaga's "Oh" It’s actually really funny for me for some reason :)

S4 E21 & Chap 279
There are only two parts that I really like from this episode:

  • (17:33) The fight scene between the Miya Twins is pretty funny you have to admit!
  • (20:25) I just love the part of the anime when Atsumu says "Cuz I’m a setter!" For some reason, the VA of Atsumu made me have a different spin to this! At first, I thought he was just showing off, and yes, he is showing his skills as a setter, but the tone he had and also the smile, I felt warmth and it was actually genuine! After that, it’s just so heartwarming and I have to smile every time I watch the scene!
  • Also it links to the chapter adaptation title: Love. It shows the love that Atsumu has for volleyball!
  • OSTs!!! The OST that plays during this is so powerful as well. It’s one of my favourite and since someone made a cover of this on YouTube, I’ve been listening to it on repeat. Again, it’s really fitting to the moment!

S4 E23 and Chaps 284, 285 & 286

  • (12:15) When Tanaka tells Kageyama to lessen the spikes given to him and when Kageyama tells him "NO".
    • While watching this, there's this suspense moment waiting for Kageyama's response. Now I love how it waits and then he says "No". I remember reading the manga and when this came up, I imagined it to be a really big moment when Kageyama says "No". And for some reason, this moment/quote is just something that I remember so much. Like even in the previous episode when Tanaka tells Kageyama something and it’s stops, I was so excited to hear Kageyama's "No". I don’t know ok. I really don’t know!!!
  • (13:26) Kageyama and Tanaka.
    • I love how Kageyama thinks during this moment! How he pushes Tanaka and the 'trust' he has in him. Also the perfect set that he gives to Tanaka as a setter and from everything that he's learned! Kageyama really has grown, making him 'the serene king' now.
    • Tanaka doing that sharp straight shot shows how powerful he is and not just his cut shot that he did in the first set.
    • Also I love the visual metaphor of Tanaka jumping from one edge of a cliff / precipice to the next. Again shows his mentality and strength.
    • OST!!! The upbeat-ness (haha) and how it creates tension with the strings at the start to mirror how the situation is, is just amazing. The music just builds so much of the anime and really brings / makes it so realistic and powerful.
    • Saeko tearing up at how proud she is at Tanaka!!! I just love their bond so much!

S4 E25
The final episode for Haikyuu Season 4, Haikyuu: To The Top, Cours 2. It was a great episode to end the Season!!! This is more of an analysis of the episode but I am still going to point out parts that I like.

  • (2:48) OST. It’s so lightening and happy. A perfect OST to end the match. Also it’s similar to Gears and A Chemical Reaction Of Encounters, so I instantly picked that out.
  • I actually forgot how it felt at the end of a match, especially with the protagonist team. Obviously, Inarizaki's match was 10 episodes long, plus Nekoma's which was 2 episodes long, and also the plays from all of the teams were amazing, it just feels amazing. But sadly, one team will have to loose.
    • Karasuno's side:
      • Obviously they are the victors and so seeing everyone so happy is so enlightening to watch and see!
      • Also I love how Kageyama and Hinata start to fight over who blocked Osamu haha.
      • When Karasuno go and thank everyone, that’s really nice!
    • Inarizaki's side:
      • Obviously it will be sad for them, but when I watched it, I didn’t feel that sad over it. Also Kita's explanations and talks really lifts the mood up a bit for me.
      • (7:00) Like when Kita makes a speech to the team, it really is inspiring and also how he explains how the match went. Even though it’s painful, "Now that we're here, I’m wishin' I had more chances to brag about you all... showin' off to everybody how amazing all my teammates are." like that really is bittersweet. One, it’s obviously the third years last, but also motivates the rest of the team to get stronger and better.
      • Also Kita smiling 🥺
  • (4:49) "One day, I’m gonna set for you" by Atsumu Miya to Hinata. I feel like the manga was better, it had more power when Atsumu said that. Well know that Atsumu does set for Hinata, in the timeskip, BJ vs SA match (I just like to shorten their match name instead of saying their teams)
  • (9:25) Seeing Karasuno all tired is pretty funny.
  • Akane-chan is so funny but also serious.
  • (12:58) I love it when Karasuno watch the news and how the TV show some of their bad shots. Even though it’s embarrassing, they all find it funny, even I do, and I just love the Karasuno bonding and having fun.
  • (16:59) Suga thinking about Kageyama's signature. I still remember from the interview that Kageyama didn’t know that there was a heart on his signature. That was so funny!!!
  • (17:53) Karasuno first years in the baths. It is funny you have to admit.
  • (19:33)
    • I love how they showed a montage of both Karasuno and Nekoma. Both in their hotels/inns, their encounters from Season 1 and 2 and also their national matches.
    • Imagination plays for the ending theme. Now that's really nice that they used it! The first thing that I thought about was that Imagination was the OP that was played when Karasuno and Nekoma met and played for the first time, so it shows that this will really be Karasuno vs Nekoma's match. It just bings it back and I love that.
  • (21:57) When Karasuno and Nekoma meet outside the arena. Again, it's like the time when they met for the first time, all lined up. But this time, Kenma and Hinata are both happy and excited for this match to happen, their "instant game over" and "the Trashcan/Dumpster showdown"

Haikyuu!! Movie: Owari to Hajimari
When Nishinoya, Tanaka, Daichi and Suga fix the broken broom when Nishinoya and Asahi had their fight.

  • When I watched that scene on Youtube, I was shocked! It hit me hard and that scene when Nishinoya and Asahi fixed the broom was beautiful! 
  • Also, fixing the broom shows that their relationship was fixed as well. I actually shed a tear when I watched it.

(10:51) When Karasuno finish their match with Tokonami, and Hinata gets overwhelmed that they won and get to play another match.

  • While I was re-watching, this part finally hit me and I realised how much it means for Hinata and even Kageyama that they won and get to play again. Also with this being Hinata's first tournament win must feel really special! Ugh I’ve been in the mindset of Nationals, Inarizaki, Season 4 that this part really hit me being the start of their journey haha. I did shed a tear when I watched this part!

  • This moment made me sad as they cried and also the OST: Accustomed Strength plays, making it more upsetting!

  • That moment is really sad as it shows the two main characters/friends in a fight.
  • Plus, when Hinata tells Yachi "for the first time, I didn't only find a friend, I found a real partner!!!" that makes me sad/tear up every single time 😭😭😭
  • Also the OST: Breakdown plays, really making the scene really show a breakdown and a game-changing moment.
  • Every time I watch that scene, it hurts so much, no matter how many times I watch it!!!

Haikyuu!! movie: Talent and sense
(1:19:50) At the end, when Seijoh's 3rd years start to cry in the school gym after Oikawa thanks everyone. Also, when Oikawa and Iwaizumi walk home and flashbacks show their friendship.

  • This part was kind of bittersweet because at the start, when the 3rd years were playing, they were complaining and laughing after they ate.
  • But when Oikawa started to thank everyone, I started to shed a tear there.
  • Also when Iwaizumi and Oikawa walk home and when they finish off with a fist bump after being shown the two have always done that, it really hit.
  • To top that off, ACCUSTOMED STRENGTH PLAYED AGAIN, and that OST makes me sad/cry.

  • If the chapter made me sad, then the anime would be no different! When I saw Atsumu's face, It did make me tear up a little.

S4 E21 & Chaps 277 & 278

  • Well, this part in the manga was already really disheartening. Kinoshita tried so hard with all of his mental serves and his hard work with his jump floaters. But it just wasn’t enough.
  • (:) But what hit me slightly was afterwards, when he thought about how he wasn’t a hero like the rest on the team. Also, you know me, OSTs! 'Obsession' played and that OST is one of my saddest OSTs :( Right before watching the new episode, I was watching S3 E7: Obsession, so that OST was fresh in my head, but after hearing it again during this moment... I want to say it was a good choice of OST but obviously, it was sad, but you understand what I mean.

S4 E22 & Chap 281
The episode and chapter gave me happy tears, VERY!!! But every time I watch Hinata's receive and then when he smiles/laughs during the timeout is just SO HEARTWARMING!!! I wrote all of it here.

Chap 365
When Hinata struggles to get up during the Kamomedai match and after that chapter.

  • That was the part that I legit cried, with tears flowing. I know I'm not the only one who cried during that moment, but when Hinata got benched as he got a fever, that hit me!
  • At first, I though Hinata broke his wrist!!! Yes, I know that might be impossible but when I analysed the panel, his wrist was awkward, so that was my first thought!
  • But when I read further, I realised that he got a fever :( So, you know when they started to point out the events before this, I can't stop but think that Hinata actually has a fever.
  • Like when he almost drowns in the bath in S4 E12 (:) and when Ennoshita said that they should be careful not to let anyone get sick (if only he said that sooner!), I keep remembering that he's sick :( and when he has to leave, he looks back to the court.
  • Also when Kenma comes in to give him a tablet, I was like "KENMA'S SUCH A GREAT FRIEND!!!"

S3 E7
(:) When Ushijima tells the other 3rd years at Shiratorizawa about his father and flashbacks of his past are shown when his father protects Ushijima's left-handedness.

  • Also, when the OST: Obsession was played. This part at start wasn't sad.
  • But after reading Chap 395 and at the end when Ushijima thanks his dad for 'protecting his gift', that hit me, but not sadness!
  • It was so heartfelt and emotional to see their bond.
  • Also, when Ushijima says 'gift' it's so heartfelt! Every time I watch this scene from the episode, I always remember this chapter!

Chap 401

  • So I know that this is the penultimate chapter, so I guess it wasn't a surprise that I would cry.
  • The first time was when Kageyama tells Hinata he "made it" as before, Kageyama went ahead. Also, when Hinata says that it 1,096 wins and 1,100 losses for him, that made me cry! Just seeing their friendship and competitiveness all the way from high school hit me!
  • But that chapter was really nice, especially when I thought it was over, until I saw Hinata and Kageyama on the Japan Olympics team wearing their numbers from high school (9 and 10!!!). My God!
  • But anyway, that chapter was nice, bringing things back from the past and resolving/mentioning them again was beautiful! 
  • S1 E14 (21:09)
  • If I didn't read the chapter, then I wouldn't 'cry' over this part.
    • So linking to the part when Hinata says his score's 1,096 wins and 1,100 losses, when I watched the part at the end of the episode, when Hinata says his and Kageyama's score is 30-32, that made me cry!!!
    • HOW DID THE THIRTIES GET ALL THE WAY TO THE THOUSANDS!!! Damn, that part just shows again how much Haikyuu!! has evolved and the plot of EVERYTHING!!!
