Overview[]
Another battle between Nekomata and Ukai is taking place to see who is the champion of mahjong.
Plot[]
While out having drinks together, Takeda thanks Coach Nekomata for inviting Karasuno to the training camp. Nekomata happily accepts the gratitude while adding that it would be beneficial for him as well. Ukai begins to suspect that Nekomata has ulterior motives even though the older coach tries to assure him that it's all for the sake of making the Trashcan Showdown a reality.
Ukai continues to think that Nekomata is up to something, explaining that he and his grandfather had suffered throughout life because of Nekomata. The Nekoma coach offers to let Ukai get to know him better by playing a game of mahjong. With Ukai refusing to join the game, Nekomata reveals to Takeda that Ukai is like his grandfather and shares many of his brash tendencies. Naoi begins to suspect that Ukai doesn't want to play against Nekomata because it would make him look worse if he were to lose in both volleyball and mahjong. This successfully gets Ukai riled up enough to accept the challenge as a means to avenge himself for all the losses Karasuno has suffered at the hands of Nekoma.
As they get situated to play the game, Nekomata comments how it has been several years since he last played the game which allowed Ukai to feel a sense of confidence as he has played mahjong in college and feels he may have the upper hand. Unfortunately, Nekomata quickly wins five rounds in a row and mocks Ukai by asking if he went easy on the elderly coach. Ukai becomes more irritated when Nekomata reveals that the game is also being used to determine how much each coach is paying for the barbeque on the last day of the camp; Ukai only now finding this out and now having to pay for up to four kilos worth of meat.
Ukai becomes more determined to beat Nekomata, even resorting to cheating if he has to. After Nekomata wins several more rounds, Saeko eventually makes her way to the game. As she asks to join the match, Nekomata accepts and boasts how he's had his fill of Ukai's frustrated expression. Just as the next round starts, Saeko announces that she beat Nekomata. Stunned, the men notice that she has in fact beat Nekomata as quickly as he had beaten Ukai. Saeko proceeds to beat Nekomata again, following Naoi, and even Ukai.
The next day, Nekomata and Ukai reveal that Saeko continued to defeat them throughout the night.
